I'm pleased to see that he got through level 4 stage on Maboy and he barely got through despite the ongoing scandal. I don't know what to feel, but I believe in the fandom!

 

I'm also glad MNET didn't take out the penalty. Albeit that there will be more drama if Guanlin was in that position than Youngmin so they let him have it. I don't know what to feel about his screentime though

We can only hope for the best. This was the result of all the scandals that happened. The fact that he came through and barely surviving with new pann posts being made about his performance, it's going to change things.

I honestly thought ym didn't interact with other trainees much at first but just look at him making so many friends. I wouldn't have even known jisung and ym were close if they hadn't aired the #1 pick scene. I don't think i've ever even seen them interact together. Yongguk was one of my favorites so now i'm really bitter that they didn't show their friendship 

 

 

The positivity that we needed   also look at how sweetly he hugged woodam 

 

 

Do they say why they've decided to join? like in introduction posts? I'm just curious to know if they were fans of eliminated trainees since it really is increasing fast.

 

I can read characters but I can't translate so I'm mainly relying heavily on naver translations.  

So far the build up of the fan cafe in the past weeks since I've joined is marvellous because when I joined it was about 400 and that was like 1.5 weeks ago during the scandal and now it's past 700 and the increase happened within a day (possibly due to his mcountdown performance). FYI it was 500 like 2-3 days ago and it shot up to 600 all of a sudden, and now it's 700 within the mcountdown to the episode airing. I don't know if maybe people left after the scandal broke out, because Daewhi and Woojin's cafe is over 1000 but we should to factor in that there are probably international fans in these fan cafes.

 

Scheming through the posts most people were looking for a place as a sanctuary due to the scandals and some are new fans from watching the episodes and the performance stage. I've not seen anyone who said that they're coming back (there might have, but it's probably that they don't say  they did and just vote). 

 

I think after the latest episode has aired, the fans are more active than ever, with the new fans coming in and casual fans looking for a place to stay. They do a regular attendance check and voting evidences so they're quite active and i love it

 

 

Is it possible for us to join the fan cafe? Or see who's in it or what the people in there are talking about? I wanna join any of his fancafes huhu :(((

 

 

You can join if you have a naver account. It's just that the first time you join, you're required to login 5 times i think to be able to start reading. They seem to be more strict than some fancafes I've seen. I've seen a few international fans here and there so you're definitely welcome to join. I've never seen anyone that spoke in english, even when I introduced myself I wrote in korean and i had not been able to respond to their messages as I did not understand. lol

By the way guys, BoA said in the broadcast that if the Open Up members didn't get the benefit, they would have been eliminated. I was wondering if it's true so I watched the broadcast again and calculated the rank without the benefit,,, and actually all of them will still survive in top 20 even without the benefit.... I wonder why BoA said that when it isn't true?

Other than drama, it would have support the idea that they previously want 18 people and they wanted to take the benefits as part of penalty (i think they may have added this phrase thinking that they might go with that idea but backed out last minute).

 

They most likely decided against it to avoid even more backlash since 20 is already enough of an impact.

 

I opened your link and saw the GIF with Youngmin wearing the blue shirt and I jist realized he's not wearing long sleeves underneath! I think it's the first time I've seen him without it in any PD 101 episode. Don't know why but I got a little bit too excited when I saw his short-sleeved image. Lol @self hahahahuhuhuhuhu

Gosh I feel the same way as you. Like I will support the top 11 as a casual fan but I'll be sad if he decides to stay in the dungeon and don't come out (I'm sure rhymer is much smarter than that but who knows). It's nice to hear that they're very active. It gives me hope that they will continue to be so after the show ends too. I'm going to be a little bold and wish for it to reach 1000 before the show ends

 

 

Probably because saying that had more of an impact than the truth. It makes a perfect story too. Getting kicked out of the popular group and having to learn in a short amount of time just to win and eventually survive because of it. It was fate kind of thing. While it's not true it is a good strategy and a small part of me is kinda impressed.

Do you guys think Youngmin is getting just as much love as he did before the scandal? Obviously with more haters but he hasn't actually lost as many fans as we all thought he would? Pann was where all his haters gathered up but he has had a lot of positive Panns reaching a lot of upvotes. I saw an Instiz poll yesterday and Youngmin was 7th .

 

Is it bad that my hope for him making the group is beginning to rise? I seriously want him in the group so much

I'm not really sugar coating this but from the way the fans responded not only in the fancafe but on pann, his support is definitely rising. It might be smaller numbers but they have tons of activities they're doing in order to promote him. He still has the ads, the third bus as well and a few articles being written about him (which is actually important too). He has a real shot in making it because his rise is a great timing. He could pull a Mina and unexpectedly gets in.

 

The main question for me is what MNET will do during the live broadcast. My main worry is that we don't know if they are going to do it like last time where only 2 trainees from the same company will make it or if they actually will let you have 3. He definitely has a strong core fandom and it's solidified already during the scandals with addition of new people coming in. The last eliminations was a hard carry votes from the fans and not much percentage of the 2 picks since he actually doesn't have any pair other than the bnm train and seeking. The open up stage hasn't reflected this votes so we are about to find out in the finals if it did.

Here is the poll, he's 7th. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have international votes since I haven't seen any Instiz links floating around. It doesn't really matter since Youngmin doesn't really have much international support compared to the other trainees. Instiz polls aren't the most accurate but it's still nice to see him so high up since the previous polls at the peak of his scandals had him in the mid 10s or so. There's been a lot of Panns here and there that have a lot of upvotes even more than the damned original scandal Pann. Support for him has definitely been rising.

 

It's really scary to think that he might not get in. He's already 23, and there's been rumors that he plans to enlist if he doesn't make it. I'm also worried that he'll also just give up on his music career, he's went to a lot of auditions and companies and some say that he views P101 as his last chance. If it were me, I would both be mentally and physically tired and would just want to give up.

 

I don't think Mnet would do anything to play dirty if 3 BNM trainees got in. Last season, most companies only had 2 trainees who got popular without a company train. BNM is a rare case where, minus Donghyun , all got popular individually and have different fandoms. Even Nuest relies heavily on a company train vote and similarly to last season, I can only imagine 2 trainees max getting in.

 

On a more positive note, seeing the trainees cheer Youngmin when his ranking was announced made my heart warm.

I didn't follow season 1 when it was airing, so I don't know about this. Did mnet really say there could only be 2 trainees from the same company in 1 group? Or did they do anything to show they only wanted 2?

 

Also, I didn't really pay much attention on pann before the 'scandal', but I guess before the scandal Youngmin was really huge on pann(?) Basically everyone (including other trainees' stans) at least liked him/ didn't mind him in the top 11 i think... maybe kind of like the support Woojin is now gettting on Pann? But i'm not really sure how much of that support was from the core fandom, how much was from general produce fans.

 

But yeah now he is rising back. When the scandal happened most Youngmin stans tried to be lowkey and only posted on Youngmin fantalk, because any positive post about Youngmin on Produce fantalk/ entertalk gets downvoted to hell.. But now they can start to gain upvotes back in entertalk and Produce channel, so it's definitely a good sign. The upvotes are definitely still much smaller than before the scandal though. However, at the end of the day, I think this mostly reflects the reaction of general produce fans instead of how big his core fandom is.. so we can't really tell from pann. That being said, his latest fancam has much more views and likes than before+ his fancafe number rose, so I do really think we still have hope.

This is more in terms of the way MNET will be doing their editing, he's getting less and less time of screentime and they can easily push another trainee in the last few minutes that people can vote for. I don't think they can rig it but I just hope it goes well in the live.

 

I want him to really debut :(

 

YM is really Pann prince, PANN girls got a extreme love-hate rls w him. In fantalk he's the hottest topic pd101 related, and 5th hottest topic in general (below EXO, BTS, NCT etc.).

Satoori is like regional accent. I think this video highlights the differences pretty well. Youngmin's satoori is the Busan one.

 

Also if you watch Korean dramas you can tell the differences after a while. For example the main characters of Reply 1997 use satoori in conversations. You can notice they sound really different from other Korean dramas.

Omg that is so funny! It's like Busan guys are the bad boy Koreans in the region and Jeju is just some random guy whose language you can't understand. It's a no wonder girls dig his satoori accent.

Yup Busan satoori sounds tougher/rougher(?) than standard Korean, so it's interesting for me how the way they speak sometimes clash with how they look and how their personalities actually are... Like Youngmin has a really sweet oppa image but when he speaks in satoori he sounds so manly and tough (?)

 

By the way I'm so happy that this thread is moving so much faster now, we are on page 48 already I still remember my first post was around 1 month ago and this thread was only on page 7 then

I still remember coming to this thread and it just turned 20, it's amazing how far it's come in a few weeks!

 

Also I want to add in the conversation of voting, they have to make it stricter this time so that only Koreans can vote and it's not rigged to having international fans vote. Apparently there were Chinese votes that came through in the first elimination so they had to do it differently this time. It would be nice to vote but I think it's actually good that only Koreans get a say, it will definitely build a nation's boy group.

 

In the last week Youngmin shot up my pick list to #2. I always had a fond impression of him but after the scandal his demeanor and everything just reeled me in. I think his black hair sealed the deal for me haha. Man I really want him to make it. I know during the highest points of his scandal he was around mid teens for the 1 pick polls but does anyone know what his rank was in 1 pick polls before the scandal?

 

Also even if he doesn't make it I think BNM Boys will get to debut next year. BOI's exclusive contract with YMC is only until December this year. Next year they may go to a different company and may not have an exclusive contract. If Daehwi and Woojin I don't want them to get hate for promoting alongside BOI. But if they promote for 6 months exclusively with BOI and than side by side with BNM Boys I don't think think the hate will be that bad.

I don't know if that's a good idea since the backlash with the boys this year is much more intense than the girls last season. Even if there's no more exclusive contract they are still in the group and there will be delulu antis who would celebrate to bring them down.

 

That's why it's actually better that youngmin debuts in BOI. Otherwise he will have to enlist in the army :/

Reading tweets and the main thread got me a bit more nervous. Trying to support and believe as possible, but also trying to not set expectations so high. I'm a bit sad that there's isn't much we can do besides voting for maboy.

 

I've read on twitter that if youngmin doesn't make it into the group, he will go back to the farming life. I know twitter probably isn't a reliable source but where did this farming life come from? Haven't heard of it before.

 

Also I hope brand new music will give promotions to the trainees that did not make it in to the top 11. Maybe like a subunits to release music. Like how jj project (although idk if they were meant to be a duo first) and bang yongguk and zelo (never give up) came out first before their actual group. It's better than to wait in the dungeon. They need to maintain their hype and popularity asap. I'm pretty sure rhymer knows that though. I find it funny and cute when he opened one of donghyun's fansite's story on instagram.

I also have the same worry as you. I was not in the main thread as much back in season 1 so I wasn't sure how good was the prediction came vs outcome but when more and more people predicted that he won't make it despite everything that I know is happening (fans banding together to vote, all the promo ads, he even has fansites that's bigger than his fancafes promoting a lot and his Chinese fan site doing the best they can to fund more activities) i am feeling kind of defeated already in a way?

 

TBH it's never actually a sure thing when one debuts (ie nuest) but looking at the way brand new music is looking after the kids, I know they are carefully making plans. I mean there's already rumours of other companies checking out the bnm trainees so their potential is definitely recognised. I hope that whatever is the outcome for next year, he only walks a flowery path to debut as an idol. Ultimately BOI should be a good springboard to boost his start as an idol.

 

Anyways everyone thinks guanlin is pulling a pinky but what if it's actually Youngmin? This pann prince isn't a pann prince for nothing.
