Hi! I started noticing Youngmin after Be Mine performance and his personality really got me! I honestly didn't want to be too invested in Broduce101 but I ended up watching a bunch of Youngmin vids and here I am loll. I'm so glad that he is rising in votes rn. I have a feeling he will get into TOP 11 next week. I reaaaaaallyyyy hope he will get into the final lineup. Cause I honestly don't see myself checking out/stanning the next bnm boygroup lol

Ahh... I always assume companies train dance + either vocal or rap at the same time. So I thought he might have trained for dance+ vocal before.

 

Btw I backtracked and saw that he auditioned for JYPE along with the other bnm boys. Do we know how long he trained in JYPE?

Yup I assumed it was just dance as well, his rap impressed me more than his singing in the audition 

 

Youngmin never officially joined JYPE, he only went to audition and got first place. He then later joined RBW and another company.

Only Daehwi, Woojin, Donghyun (+Woo Jinyoung) did actually join JYP but switched out to BNM later hence it explains why Somi only mentioned those names.

My love and appreciation for youngmin just increased even more knowing this. I personally couldn't guess that he didn't train for long going by how professional he was on stage. I now truly understand why he kept mentioning the pressure from being from bnm. He's expected to do well right from the start even though he himself hasn't been doing this for very long. Breaks my heart to think about what must have been going through his head when he messed up a little

It seems like there is a rumor going around that Youngmin has a girlfriend? Ofc I don't care if he has one, but the timing seems to indicate that it's just a rumor spread by fans of other boys to bring him down? Posts about youngmin usually only have upvotes/ good comments from his fans but now ppl start to find him as a threat to their biases. I start to see people randomly saying he has a gf and ppl shouldn't pick him, that he isn't all that nice, bad comments about his skin etc..

 

My Korean sucks tho, so it would be great if someone can help to confirm this (the rumors, how it started, etc,etc)

I have seen some comments about his skin but nothing too bad, mostly his fans discussing about why his skin condition worsened and that they still find him cute despite that. I haven't seen anything regarding a girlfriend? Did you see them on Naver, Pann or Twitter? I haven't really seen any negative comments/articles on Youngmin personally though. 

 

I don't think it's impossible (both him having a girlfriend unless BNM is very strict about dating or it being a rumour made up by other trainee stans) since he's gaining a lot of positive attention for being angelic leader 2.0. Like timelady mentioned, it will probably only get worse after the next elimination 

 

 

 

 

I saw the girlfriend thing on a pann post. It was basically a post asking people who their one pick are, and under the comments about Youngmin, I see some people telling others not to vote for a guy with a gf. The skin thing was mentioned by haters too in pann, and I saw a negative post about him (the op got a backlash for it though). The hate is probably really minor compared to other popular trainees, but I guess I'm just too used to Youngmin receiving only positive attention.

 

I'm glad I haven't seen anything bad on twitter though. But it's probably because he is so underrated internationally. Unrelated, but I'm really glad international fans can't vote or else he basically have 0 probability of making it to Top11.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ah we really should have seen this coming :/ While this is my first time hearing about it I can see that people have started to see him as actual competition. I fear it's gonna get worse when the next ranking is revealed especially if he takes the spot that they think their favs deserved :(

 

 

 

 

This is why I feel kinda conflicted now. At first I wanted him to rank real high in top 11 for the next evaluation, but now I just want him to make it in (maybe at 9/10/11) so that other fans don't hate him too much.

Exactly my thoughts. To think that he was so happy receiving his stage 2 maboy gift, saying that he felt his dream was coming true because of the love he's been receiving from fans

I am so sad like I want him to be happy like on that maboy video all the time but some anti had to be bitter about him and ruin this helpful, hardworking and happy person. I was like listening to downpour and tearing up thinking about how he must be feeling right now.

He is probably thinking that his dream is gone now. He worked so hard since young to be where he is now. Auditioned like 100 times. And when finally when he got to see that his hard work was paying off...this unfortunate thing had to happen. 

 

I went back to his boys and girls performance on naver just now. All the new comments are positive and supportive, and it seems like people are upvoting all these new positive comments (that's what I did anyways). I hope that Youngmin will see these comments and feel better. It's really sweet, I'm touched that a lot of his fans are doing this to support him.

 

i'm going find a bright side in this and see it as a way to filter out fans who never planned to stay for the long term anyway. If they turn their backs on him for a thing like this then i don't think they were truly fans. I personally became his fan because of his personality and hardwork not because of his relationship status so people leaving because of this never made sense to me. Anyway, i'm just gonna hope for the best. Whether he ends up in the top 11 or debuts later with bnm boys i'll still be a fan.

Am I the only one who notice the fake concern about Youngmin in PD101 main thread? Sure some actually care about youngmin but most people there are talking about it nonstop while lowkey dragging youngmin lol. They never even have youngmin in their top11 pick in the first place but suddenly they are 'oh so worried' about youngmin's rank,... he shouldn't have been this stupid blahblahblah.. 

 

One particular girl who bashed Youngmin fans in the past for dragging Sungwoo( which probably never happened anywhere btw + it's a dumb generalization even if it happened) is suddenly so worried about Youngmin that she has to constantly post about Youngmin losing fans + some new unfounded rumor circulating in pann blahblahblah.

 

I honestly see no hate on twitter whatsoever. 1 account who posted Youngmin gifs on twitter deleted their tweets, but that's about it. Most of his fansites are still there and active. 

 

I genuinely believe this issue will eventually cool down. I used to think that Youngmin's main fanbase are in their 10s, but now that I look at it, most of his videos on naver have a pretty balanced demographic between 10s and 20s.

Sure his votes might be hurt a little bit but if I can bet my money on it, I'm gonna bet Youngmin will still at least make it past top22 with his current situation.

The main thread is actually quite toxic. I can tell that some of them are quite happy cause they think their faves might have a chance to rise in the rankings.

 

I knew they were biased af lol (towards Jihoon too). I actually saw someone really say now that Youngmin will fall, let _____ rise, bye youngmin etc. But the fake concern pretending that they care about him bothers me even more than the direct shade.

 

 

 

I haven't been reading the Youngmin opinion posts in main thread. There's way too many and most of them seem to be along the line of 'it's okay to date but posting about doing it is too much etc.' I could care less about that. 

 

But there seems to be a clarification post going around. I'm not sure if this will help Youngmin's situation since damage has already been done. People are always here for the drama but they could care less about clarifications.

 

He will probably say something to clarify too in the next evaluation. I hope that will regain some of his fans back.

Hmm I'm not so sure that's such a good idea to be honest. Even if he tries to clarify, what would he say? Would he call her out to be a liar and promise that everything was bs? Doesn't seem likely. And if he can't do that, then the only thing he'd be able to do is apologize. And apologies when it comes to these sort of things don't usually go over well with fans, might just get him more hate. 

 

Idk, he can just say sorry that this happened and how his fans must have been worried/ disappointed, and just go along with his company's statement that they don't know whose account it was/ it's not related to him.

 

Honestly the original pann post accusing him didn't have much proof and a lot of his fans are coming back to defend him on pann now.

Regarding the rumors about Mnet changing the voting system, I hope that they will still use 1 pick like last season, because most of the 'fans' who left seems to be those who had him as filler votes (those who have him among their 11 pick but not their bias). 1 pick will be much more beneficial for Youngmin right now.

Okay dis got long, I just complained a lot huhur. It's self-indulgent, feel free to skip!

 

In regards to this + the user you mentioned in the post I spoilered...yeah, I actually replied to her before when she first complained about Youngmin fans in the PD101 thread but never got a response lol. I do generally enjoy reading her thoughts about the show, but she definitely lets her concern for her bias' success blind her into making unfair negative assumptions about other trainees/fans, when she most likely would have given the benefit of the doubt and been more understanding with her own faves. I've been following the Park Sungwoo thread since before the show started airing, and there was a very noticeable change in her attitude towards not just Youngmin, but Be Mine 2 members as a whole, when Sungwoo's rank started dropping and after position evaluation spoilers started coming out. She became convinced that Be Mine 2 ostracized Sungwoo and treated him horribly, and that Shape of You was much more accepting of him. Which is like...what? The footage we saw showed both teams getting along with him just fine. She said Small Woojin mentioned all the Be Mine 2 members except Kenta and Sungwoo in his ep5 speech, and that it makes sense for Kenta since he is in a different friend group with Insoo and Eunki, but that this is hard evidence of Sungwoo being shunned. Complete BS, there are alternative explanations too...the members Small Woojin did mention, he either trained with in B initially (Donghyun, Sewoon, Youngmin, Daniel) or trained with once he moved up to A (Big Woojin, plus Youngmin and Daniel again). Plus Youjin wasn't mentioned either, nobody was out to get Sungwoo. Not to mention she had also previously been perfectly happy with pictures of Sungwoo and Youngmin together at the baseball game... 

 

I never tried to clarify since she's free to have her own opinions, plus it would have felt like disrespecting the "privacy" of an invidual thread to me haha, but same, I don't like how she has been letting that ill-will carry over into the main PD101 thread in the form of thinly-veiled negative commentary that will affect other users there and spread into other parts of the PD101 i-viewership. She kinda exposed herself too? Like after people started sharing the Youngmin clarification posts from Pann/Twitter, she was like "Oh yeah, I already heard from my Korean friends yesterday that this thing might not even be true, about time it started reaching here lol." Please sis, in the past hour you have already posted several fear-mongering items about Youngmin such as "Twitter accounts are closing!!!" when you probably mean like, the five Youngmin accounts you're following lmao, versus the dozens of Youngmin accounts I'm following that are still open for business (aside from @youngmin101gif rip will be missed). So why not mention that the Japan thing might be false earlier then? Either you are lying out of your ass and never knew that clarifications were coming, or you just exposed yourself because you kept on lowkey trying to freak people out (which does have a snowball effect on others) despite knowing the rumors are false.

 

 

That's out of my system, I feel better now yay! But yeah, Youngmin will be fine. Unclear if one-pick is still a thing now but at least it will mess with everybody's rank, not just his, especially if voters try to do strategic "check" voting like with position evals. Anyways as his fans the best thing we can do is continue spreading positivity and make sure the clarification posts reach as wide an audience as possible. Have there been threads for it yet? When they are made, we should also post links to them in the original "Youngmin has a girlfriend!" threads so that people who stumble upon them in the future will get the full story.
