Is "Fantastic Beast" worth watching?

It was so-so for me. Not a disaster but totally not worth the hype. Granted, I'm not a fan of the HP movies or any spin off from the original 7 books, I only love the books so keep that in mind.

Let's break it down.

Main actor: The friends that I went with said that Eddie was so cute it was worth it. I'm not into guys and I don't find guys cute, his acting was ok but not enough to save the day

Main actress: drove me nuts. Just how d.u.m.b can one be... Was useless and made totally irrational decisions.

The fantastic beasts were awesome though. So cute, so lovely, so funny. I wished for more descriptions of them and screen time for them. Highlight of the movie.

Supporting: There was a cute "supporting" couple. Grindelwald being Johnny Depp tho... pffs.

Plot: way too easy to guess. I'm unimpressed.

Other: I knew the 7 books inside and out and remembered I had a lot of wtf moments while watching this movie. It's been 4 months already tho, so I don't remember.

Go see it if you're a fan of the HP movies though, you may understand it more than my friends did (who had no idea who Grindelwald was). Keep your expectation low though and you may be pleasantly surprised. Don't be like me, coming into the cinema after hearing every positive reviews possible and came out mad.

I kinda love it. But mostly for the easter eggs and visual treat. I kinda love the story too, as an HP offshoot. It's great seeing the start of the story you only read as history in the HP books.

I didn't mind Johnny Depp being in it at all. He isn't the Grindelwald that I imagined. I thought Colin Farrell was a good Grindelwald tho.

But as a standalone movie, it's not much plot-wise, especially if one isn't familiar with how the magical world operates already, you may not appreciate it much. Pacing is inconsistent too, can be slow at moments. But very adorable characters (humans and beasts).

I enjoyed it more on second viewing.

I thought the plot was kind of dumb, but the animations/cgi was superb.

If you're a fan of the HP world, I would definitely recommend it. It gives a lot of insight on how the magic world is beyond the scope of just Hogwarts.

My friend also recommended me this movie, but I want to know what to expect

Is it related to HP? I was a fan of HP, but it's been a long time since I last read the books so I might have forgotten some characters...

yes

There's a lot of references to HP characters and their ancestors
