Tip Toe Man PARK SUNG WOO Official Thread #Crushes coming soon

Recommended Posts

So I leave this thread open in a tab, mostly because I like to lurk and it's an easy way to remember my place.

Well, mum used my computer today to check the weather and was all 'NO THAT'S NOT FAIR. HE'S ADORABLE', which was very gratifying. We've been slowly going through every produce 101 video to give the guys our own personal rank system so far (to decide our current top 11... it was her idea.)

Thing is, she knows very well that Chibal is my #1 even more so than Minki. (Which I wasn't expecting, someone to take my #1 spot away from any of the nu'est members) I've slowly been infecting her with this bias too and I think he's pretty high up on her list now too. Just because he's too gosh darn endearing not to root for... plus he's entirely too damn attractive. With a face like that he'd make such a damn nice actor if you please universe. Awkwardly charming man next door love interest roles please!

Isn't Sungwoo 88 line? So that's still a good year+ that BoA has on him. (I didn't realize BoA was 86 like me, I was under the impression she was a year or two younger. Then again I'm basically like an 85 since I'm a beginning of January baby.)

I'm in my late twenties too and most of my friends who used to like K-Pop (we belonged to the DBSK era) have graduated from it, but I kept bombarding them with P101 stuff. LMAO a lot of them really like Chibal too! I don't know why but perhaps his look was more from our K-Pop era. His look is really appealing to the general public from what I take.

He was originally an actor anyway, but I feel he's kinda always wanted to be an idol since he did enroll himself in Winners lol.

the army definitely helps, koreans seem to look highly on celebrities who've served in the army seeing as so many of them try to get out of it. also, with the new military law thing, the other contestants could have to serve at any time

I can actually see why Chibal is strong with the men votes - he has served, like Jang Moon Bok, and he served fairly too, not in some military band or PR stint lol

OMG I've been so busy at work recently (hectic times at the office before the Easter holidays!) that I still haven't caught up. All I saw on Twitter were the Chibal stuff, but I will really backtrack during the holidays.

I think I can vote for Chibal as I still have the mobile # I had when I was in Korea last year. ahmagahplz.png

GO GO GO OUR CHIBAL!

I'm now more convinced than ever that he is getting the Sohye edit this season. The similarities are uncanny - tragic auditions, improvement during the stages (I heard he did Sungjong's parts in Be Mine well!) not to mention the budding mentorship with Youngmin.

Also A+ at using Rain, it really adds emphasis on which generation he came from lmao

Spoiler because dumb meme level stuff

Can I steal your sig?

Anyway, Sungwoo seems to actually be in a good position. His audition was a fail and deserved that F, but it was also entertaining and memorable.

If it was indeed true he did well at the Be Mine stage, then I can see an actual Sohye trajectory happening here. I am sure that will make people root for him more if they see improvement.

My ultimate fear was that he gets no screentime at all, but he did so at least we know he'll somehow be relevant for this season. MNet seems to be watching out for him.

Well here's a clean version without the circles on the side (though if you really wanted I could make one with your favs on the side, you'd have to link me the pics of them you want in a spoiler, and the circles are too small to fit much more than a face).

Then I made one based off of your sig tiptoegirl with the other two gifs of these scenes I have. But I would say graphic design is not my forte.

Spread the Chibal love (â—♡∀♡))ヾ☆*。

OMG Akaya this is amazing <3

If you don't mind I'd love to use this <3

Thanks Akaya!

Anyway, this season better be good. I think even if our oppa doesn't debut it's fine as long as he makes a mark on people and gets more well-known so he can get projects.

But it would be really interesting if he does as a 30 year old debut in a boy group is unheard of ever in Korea.

Everyone (epsecially the popular ones) is bound to get haters sooner or later, but one thing I like about oppa's fans is that they embrace his faults/weaknesses too like being in F rank or that he can's sing/dance well, or even his age. Even his fansites/K-stans make jokes like sending knee/joint pills and medicines as fan gifts hurrplz.png

Also some great gifs of Sungwoo's screentime from the ep1 over here!

this 30yr old ajusshi will surely make the female fans angry amirite hurrplz.png

It was his age and being an actual ajusshi that drew me to Chibal tho. Most likely he is using this show as a platform to boost his career, but the courage it took him to collect to go to this show at 30 years old with the full idea that he's most likely gonna be mocked was enough for me to root for him. Especially in an age conscious society like Korea, it really impressed me. He's really driven to find his spot in the Korean entertainment industry. Like I said, it's hard not to root for those really desperate for it.

i used to treat him like a dongsaeng even though i'm younger but after that performance.....0u0plz.png

I'm younger than him too but I really love how ajusshi he truly is lol it shows even with his song choices lmao

Also this is  really retweeted

Not direct translation but it says:

"Park Sungwoo, don't you know why you received the F rank? You are the main character. From this point on, Park Sung Woo will be Cinderella."

Agreed. Hopefully they'll realize that's what the judges had in mind at some point. Because I know that'd be something I'd find very reassuring. The whole 'We want to be able to work with you more, so we can help you improve' thing. Then again I'm entirely too familiar with the whole 'We're hard on you, because we have expectations' thing. So I'm far too familiar with that sort of storyline, because that's the story of my life.

I like the general updates too, but I have noticed that he's just... not popular with the general OH population. Some things you just have to shrug or roll your eyes at, ignore, and just continue on your merry way.

Plus, K-fans seem to have our back so far and that's what counts ultimately. We're lucky that Chibal is a fairly likable guy who has a lot of things that'd draw k-netz to him. So I'm not stressing things just yet.

Agreed. Hopefully they'll realize that's what the judges had in mind at some point. Because I know that'd be something I found very reassuring. The whole 'We want to be able to work with you more, so we can help you improve' thing.

It's because a lot of people in the 1OH1 thread are teenagers - which is the main demographic of K-Pop internationally. Most haven't been into K-Pop for more than 3 years too, and you could even see their choices in P101 really, really shows that.

1OH1 in general has a pretty hit/miss prediction rate for P101 except for the obvious candidates, based from what happened last season (a lot of the thread faves like Chanmi, PSY, Chaekyung etc got eliminated lol).

A lot of them are also unaware of happenings in Korean SNS except for their faves. The thing is P101 is geared to the Korean general public and the audience aren't mainly teenagers which is why there is a lot of shakeup if you compare the lists and faves. One thing holds true whenever though - visuals speak moreso than talent, especially in a show like this. Expect the really good-looking trainees to rise effortlessly even without screentime.

The thing is Sungwoo is really getting the young adult market. Look at international K-Pop sites more frequented by K-Pop old timers like Asianjunkie (where commenters have obviously gotten over having to defend their faves) - he's one of the faves there. I feel a lot of his audience in SK are also in that age bracket - those who will vote and buy his merchandise, but not necessarily follow him around to take photos 24/7 since this demographic would most likely hold a day job lmao.

His eventual success in the show will really lie on 1) his interactions with other trainees who are much younger than him. Like I said, a maknae hyung image could even propel him to Top 5. 2) will he improve or surprise people in the stages.

I just hope he doesn't get eliminated until the Five Concepts Stage is done :(

since you brought it up, what was season 1 like in terms of predictions? i didnt watch pd101 and i wasnt on OH back then either. were who people predicted in the top 11 accurate from the beginning? and was the first top 11 ranking pretty much the end result? and whats the five concept stage :O

Concept evaluation is when the show brings in 5 producers to write a song of various genres. So 5 songs to be produced and the trainees will be part of either of these groups. Each song will have a member limit so drama ensues for the popular songs that gets filled and has to kick out people LOL. imhappyplz.png

So after groupings are finalized, they would rehearse the performance, but before that performance can be presented the announcement of eliminations happen so many groups will lose members and reshuffling needs to happen again.

I just hope he doesn't get eliminated at this point since this is my fave stage and the songs are dope.

Oh, the international faves are pretty different. For one, Sohye was unliked by many on OH

Hi everyone finally got a more consistent internet and computer!

Just found this super cute!

C9gP6H5UQAAIPOo.jpg

Real life got real busy so I failed to vote for chibal and my other bets at least on Maboy recently but I'll be doing it more.

I actually disagree with the comments saying this season is less interesting because the boys are less driven. People need to understand that people sent last season were mostly at the brink of debuting while for this season, you have plenty of either a) people with a year or less of training or b) people with previous experience in showbusiness but failed to gain success with the previous attempt. It's not that they don't want to ace it, but the demographic is just entirely different.

Really think chibal is one of the trainees who is getting good exposure and to be honest, I'm really thankful for that. I really hope he reaches at least the five concept stage. So far I'm really liking the image he's showing on the show.

So cute here!

Also don't think this ship is dying anytime soon

Hello everyone! laugh.png

After some ghosting, I decided to finally maybe join in on the fun.

I knew about Sungwoo through his tiptoe gifs, didn't expect him to actually be the oldest trainee but I embrace it nonetheless! Age doesn't really bother me in regards to stan material anymore.

His pre-episode videos were the cutest ever, he has a nice voice and an overall gentle demeanour that I find very endearing rlytearpls.png

This is my honest opinion, but I'm not sure if he will be able to join the final 11, I'd honestly be very happy if he reached top 22, just so that we can see more of him and that he can have more opportunities in entertainment next time by increasing his public recognition. unsure.png I'm glad Mnet gives him a lot of screentime at least. Him cringing while reacting to his own level test was gold for me.

In Sungwoo's case, I think his kfanbase is quite solid. One of the kfan tweets I skimmed through on this thread mentioned that when Sungwoo performed Be Mine, a lot of the girls were shouting 'oppa' for him lol (I'm still in the learning phase so my translation may be way off, please be warned oTL). Some fan accounts mentioned that he was not a 'hole' in the team and that he danced on beat appropriately and was cool/sexy. This makes me look forward to the performance so so so much more (irrelevant but one of my other picks, Kenta, is also in his team, I believe).

More than anything, I'd love to see his skills improving through each mission (and also any potential ultimate hyung moments with the other participants). ahmagahplz.png

Hi welcome to our small but very tightly knit group over here loving Chibal! ahmagahplz.png  This thread has pretty awesome people so come and join the fun!

It's interesting to note a good number of us have some sort of knowledge and/or are currently learning Korean. I feel it also really helps us since most of his content are in Korean too. XD

As as a matter of fact, there were a lot of posts claiming Kenta was pretty much a scene stealer in the Be Mine stage. I'm anticipating he and Woodam (of the Mansae group) will rise in rank since so many people were hyping their performances.

But we all know the drill here - your performance is as good as the behind the scenes storyline in the versus mission lol. Just hoping my faves get a favorable edit in that.

OMG wanna quote all of you but I won't since it would fill up this post but are we all on the same wavelength or what?

While I'm not too fond of Ong Seungwoo so far, I admire his showmanship. Guy has the qualities of a good entertainer and I like his dancing far more than Samuel and Daehwi because it's not typical K-Pop. He throws in a bit of individuality there but I kinda don't root for the really good trainees lol. Also his personality seems too overwhelming for me.

Daehwi - I kinda like him more now tho since I love how he's so pro onstage but such a baby offstage lol.

But my faves

1. Chibal

2. Yoo Seonho

3. Ahn Hyeongseob

4. JR/Kim Jong Hyun

5. Jung Jung

6. Takada Kenta

7. Yoon Ji Sung

8. Kwon Hyun Bin (for now)

So much new content im crying! First off oppa finally got giftsrlytearpls.png  now to get him his vitamins

welcome to the thread! Just recently unlurked too, mostly been posting here tho instead of the main PD101 thread as I find that it moves too fast and it gets a bit hard when backtracking and finding content.

Since International Sungwoo Club now has 7 members, maybe now we can finally start stan wars hurrplz.png just kidding

I think at this point Daewhi, Samuel, newer model Seongwoo and maybe wink boy are basically shoo-ins for the final group. Around the 4th/5th episodes you can already pretty much guess the main characters for the season... I think they're the most well-rounded trainees so far and deserves A-rank, but that gets kinda boring especially when everyone and their mothers keep mentioning Ong Seongwoo's audition so eh

I don't particularly dislike them, but among the other (F)lower ranks, BJY and Haknyeon are the least interesting for me.

imo Sungwoo > Cube babies = YG K > Haknyeon > BJY. probably cos they already seem like decent future idol material compared to the first 3 hurrplz.png

for visuals Kuan Lin >> Sungwoo > Haknyeon = YG K

So far aside from gramps I'm looking out for catfish king Lee Junwoo and Hyunbin. I kinda like when the fanbase makes fun of their oppas a bit too 0u0plz.png also looking out for Sewoon and Kenta and most of the top12-22, cos thats probably where the unexpected surprises/yeunjungs are.

WHATS THIS oppas first scandal/mediaplay?? FINALLY rlytearpls.png

From google trans seems like the rapper made a reference to his nickname(?) and Produce 101. Not sure if it's good or bad.. Hoping others can clarify!

Oldie but goodie: Magazine scans!

I am coming to terms that the boys I like are those with unpredictable personalities so they DO get screentime since they do stuff good on TV. Chibal, Kwon Hyunbin, Yoo Sunho, Ahn Hyeongseop, Yoon Ji Sung, Daehwi - lmao if there was a similarity to all of them it's because of their really unique personalities. These trainees didn't even need the TV show itself to showcase their charms because it consistently showed in their intro, meringue, eye contact, even if those videos were solo (mystery box had interaction so I'm not counting that, it's easier to show personality when you're with someone). Jang Moon Bok actually seems really tame and casual compared to these boys, especially when we were all expecting it would be him who'd be kinda unique being a meme and all.

The fact that these translated to screentime in the actual TV show was a no-brainer. They do and say interesting things, of course MNet will give them the screentime. While talent is a great thing, even S1 heavily relied on personalities. Those A people who made the final group - Stone Nayoung, God Sejeong, Center Yoojung, Eye Smile Mina etc they all had identities that were pretty unique. Even Chungha had it - she was notorious for changing auras onstage but being borderline relaxed off stage (she always wore no makeup!) - and she had the least screentime amongst those who made it on Top 11. I know they're positioning Samuel to be the Somi of the season and Daehwi as the Yoojung but I honestly think Daehwi is the Somi of the season in terms of really hyper personality and all.

I do see Park Ji Hoon's appeal though - probably the only one in the top ranking ones I feel deserves it. Tried watching the show with friends with zero idea of S1 and he grabbed the attention of my friends just by being there. I think that means he had presence? Even they didn't react that way with Ong Seungwoo who they had to see dance before getting him. Also let's admit it, Joo Hak Nyeon is a visual - especially in Asian standards. Though I agree Jihoon, Haknyeon, especially Bae Jinyoung are boring lmao.

Definitely know Samuel is pressured but he needs to remember Produce 101 is a likability show. The thing is, he's already got a stable fanbase (I know Carats are supporting him) but I hope he does well when the one vote policy is applied. I get stressed out watching him (not in a good way) so there's that. You had people like Sohye last season who seemed hopeless but I didn't feel that kind of frustration watching her, she even managed to evoke a few laughs from me seeing her struggle. She was really fun to watch. Samuel is impressive, but stressful? I don't know how to properly explain.

I also feel a pretty strong superiority pov from him (and Ong Seungwoo) which is why I kinda am not into them - perhaps it's how they're edited and how they appeared in their promo videos - but they have every right to since they're actually super talented. But other talented people in this show like S1 Yoojung, Sejeong, Daehwi etc seem pretty laidback and chill and I kinda prefer those types of talented people. Nothing against Ong Seungwoo or Samuel, just a preference.

What really makes me happy about Chibal is while he isn't strong with OH-ers or girls on Pann, it's simply because that isn't his demographic. Most people I know in their twenties watching P101 certainly like him and his visuals. He generally appeals to an older set of people though I feel anyone younger (probably those in the same age liking Daehwi, Haknyeon & co - most likely fans born in 1997-after) who ends up liking Chibal would be an outlier in terms of statistics. I'm fairly confident nearly all of us in this thread were born on or before 1996.

Haha I chuckled reading this, it's funny and true lol

Anyways, here's the English version of his maboy thank you message:

He completely forgets about "lacking" but then manages to remember it and tie it to the gift he just got and that's pretty smart actually.

He's always so humble, I'm hope he's become decent/good with his song cover mission despite "lacking", and seems like all the fan accounts have shown signs he did just so.

I really really like that about Chibal. Maybe it's his age but I really like his mindset towards the show - keep learning, keep improving, if fan accounts were right he was heavily mentored by Youngmin who's 7 years younger than him. In a society like Korea where there's an age hierarchy, being willing to learn and improve from someone younger than you is a huge deal.
