The scandals didn't really decrease IU's popularity. IU has had huge scandals and survived them because the GP loves her music. Her music is always great and it's always expected to be great.So I can see why people would try to avoid her.

I somehow feel that IU's demographic is no longer the same as Twice's, although they both have very public-friendly music. There's space for them both in the industry. 

Me too. They might share some pre-20 demographic listeners, but that it. They cater to different listeners overall 'now'. To be honest, IU or other senior soloists with established brand might find it hard to head to head with trendy girl group that actively promoting. For example, IU's 23 didnt even enter 2 million clubs like these trendy girl groups had achieved. You see how Zion T last month being defeated by RV's Rookie at the end of month due to promotion and demographic basis. I am not ridiculing her power because everyone knows, she is the greatest. But realistically, we cant expect IU to promote hard like her hey day because she entered high class level of soloist now. IU and Twice, both could co exist but preferably to avoid each other.

 

PS: Just from my observation, Baek Ah Yeon's and Bollbalgan4 type of music resemble IU a bit. I think they might share same demographics.

She never lost a single CF deal at the peak of her scandals, that should tell something about how much the public loves her and how much those companies trust her. 

She has been slaying left and right and proved her haters wrong a billion times, I just cant wait for her return as a singerla.gif

Klus belongs to the Golden Age (people who debuted 2007-2009). Twice fans belong to a new age cohort. So you are right.
