Why do Kpop Fans Excuse Xenophobia?

Joga

Recommended Posts

Lately, its become more and more apparent Kpop fans go out of their way to excuse Korean attitudes against Chinese, Japanese, and foreigners in general.

They excuse this behaviour by saying "Well South Korea had wars with Japan/China/Whoever so of course they would feel this way"

But America has had wars with Britain, France, Mexico, and several other countries and yet relations between them aren't at all bad (other than Mexico somewhat, but that has nothing to do with wars)

So why can't South Korea be held to the same standards?

Apparently now that they're Kpop fans, everything that Koreans think is the law and they don't have to uphold any principles that their home countries have taught them.

How different is it from trash talking Americans as being dumb, fat, racist, and lazy? China politically bullies other Asian countries.

Trash talking countries isn't really bad, especially those that intimidate yours. It's why it's perfectly fine for people to trash Americans, or the other powerful white countries. It's only questionable when you trash talk countries that involve groups you are in a position of power to oppress, hence why multi-cultural Americans have to be extra careful.

Not that I disagree with you but lol at you comparing wars that happened in 17/1800s to ones that happened less than a century ago.

The same war happened in Europe - and all those countries get along because their governments don't try to actively cover up domestic problems by pointing their fingers at their big bad neighbors.

what. ifans are the first to call out xenophobic korean comments against chinese/japanese/sea. they're also the first take it too far by insisting that koreans should "just get over" their issues with japan.

just for the sake of simplifying history just like your post, the wars between america +britan/france happened hundreds of years ago (and some americans still have problems with the british), and america is not fine with mexico or mexicans. where you been OP.

i dont condone insulting whole cultures/peoples but it's not difficult to see the two sides.

America had wars, they didn't colonize or get colonized. Korea was colonized by Japan so they were no equal sides, but an oppressed and an oppressor and they were Allies with the Nazis. Imagine if Germany still used the Nazi flag and never admitted their wrongdoings then they would still be hated by the world, by the US, France, Britain and Eastern Europe. Japan just have to apologize for what they've done then Koreans would have never reason to keep critizing Japan.

As for China/S.Korea, neighbours countries all over the world have rivalries, land claims and stereotypes about each other, Koreans should stop using the S word, that's a slur and it's wrong to use it other than that just look at your own country's comments and you will see a lot of hate and rivarly like that towards your neighbour countries and vice versa.

I guess you forgot America was involved in the Korean war as well...? And WW2 happened less than a decade before that...?

Tell me seriously when was the last time USA was taken completely over by a foreign government and your civil rights trampled by them?
