Overused lines in fanfiction

whenever i read fanfictions there's almost always a line that goes like this:

"As he steps closer to me, I could smell the scent of his shampoo.... He smells faintly of (INSERT ESSENCE HERE, MOST PROBABLY VANILLA OR HONEY OR CINNAMON), with a little hint of (INSERT FRUIT OR FLOWER HERE)..."

also there was a time when i read EXO fanfics during like  2014 and this line always appeared

"His mouth formed an 'o' shape in his surprise."

also don't you find it odd like

"He just stared at me and it took him a few minutes to answer."

like irl, even just a few seconds of silence is already awkward enough lmao

anything else?

This isn't an overused line but I absolutely hate it when a fanfic writer uses he/she said so many times in a paragraph. Like we could easily know who's speaking if you just use it a couple of times or just use different words for said. Also when authors don't write out a number. Or when they describe a character's features too much. And overused adverbs

This overused line is cringe worthy to me:  " Don't do this to me!" *character cries*

the worst, they use it so much I roll my eyes each time i see it :

"he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding"

omgwtf.png  idk if it' something english speakers says a lot while writing, but seeing how much it's use in fanfiction just makes me hates it.

oh true, i see that  a lot

also this one

"He bit his lips in embarrassment/confusion/deep thought".... in short, lip biting is a reflex action according to kpop fanfiction

I used to see this scenario/lines a lot:

If the character is some bad boy type, he'd be forcing/pestering himself to the girl and often said something along,"I know you couldn't resist me.". And when they have sex, the girl character usually resist at first and the bad boy character be like : "You say no, but your body says yes."

Their tongues battled for dominance

LMAO THIS IS 100% TRUE I ALWAYS HATED IT

I can't stand it when fan fiction writers use "orbs" to substitute for eyes. Stfu. No real writer says orbs and the word doesn't mean eyes. This needs to stop

Basically every kissing scene in every fic is described in the same exact way. Like:

Their tongues battled for dominance

And lines like: "I slowly slid my tongue across his lips, asking for entrance to which he granted by opening his mouth. I dipped my tongue into his mouth and started to twirl mine with his as we battled for dominance." (yes this an actual line from a fic). All kissing scenes sound like this.

When authors just describe characters as "the taller" or "the smaller." Like "the smaller shook his head ruefully." Smaller what?! There needs to be a noun there c'mon. If you can't use names or pronouns at least say "the smaller man" or something.

saying someone "moaned at the loss" or "clenches around nothing", etc after someone pulls out

"his dick twitched in interest" also sounds really weird to me

you can tell what kinda fanfics I read. lol
