It was the most common one i've seen when referring to her ( threads like comparisons to other idols). I've never seen her Korean name. And of course I've seen her chinese name because I doubt pinky was her real name so l looked up her ioi profile briefly. I have never been a fan of "Koreanised" Chinese name like Han Kyung, Sung Seo, Mi Gi etc. While Pinky is a pre-debut name that she seldom calls herself anymore and the only reason it stuck was because the Produce 101 subbers were too lazy to type out "Kyulkyung" or "Jieqiong" and just used Pinky (although I admit it made her stand out amongst 101 trainees cause I was scratching my head and wondering who the hell is this girl called "Pinky"). PinkZone 87 Posted March 7, 2017 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Pinky is a pretty cool name, it's much easier for international fans to remember instead of Kyulkyung which is her official name but much much harder to remember, even for koreans, so I guess that's why it's spread. Although she only mentioned that name once or twice, she's aware international fans call her Pinky and she doesn't mind, so it's all good. People now are also used to it, so they will continue to call her that, and that's fine. Just know that in official promo and such she goes by Kyulkyung. I'm Chinese and I still get the 4 tones mixed up sometimes if I just see the word like Jieqiong but not the character which is æ´ç¼ (Jie2qiong2). Personally, I would hate it if people kept calling my name wrong during a fansign or event so I would assume that's why a lot of Chinese names are Koreanized for the sake of the fans and idols. Many i-fans use Pinky because it's easy to remember and it's the name she introduced herself as before her P101 days. It isn't exactly a predebut stage name that they got rid of, it's her nickname because she used to like the color pink when she was the younger (that logic lmao.. only Pinky <3). Even if she doesn't mention it a lot she rarely introduces herself as Jieqiong either and she did say we could call her Pinky so use whatever name you want! My friends and I always joke that it sounds very clean lmao. I don't really mind Kyulkyung either, because I can understand the "qiong" sound being too hard to pronounce for non-chinese, and as a romanization it's way closer to her real name than "Pinky" or the godawful "Zhou".
