Hanlim Arts High School graduates won't have verified educational status?

Pann: Is this true about Hanlim Arts High School?

(Pann talks about Hanlim Arts HS graduates ending up as middle school graduates if they don't graduate from universities)

1. [+333, -83] If you really want to pursue arts, study hard and go to arts schools like Kyewon, Deokwon, Anyang, Sunhwa, and Seoul. What will non-celebrities do after graduating from Hanlim or Seoul Performing Arts?

2. [+239, -81] Your educational status won't be verified. It's just a school made for celebrities. I know this accurately because my dongsaeng is preparing for an arts school.

3. [+193, -24] The law says your educational status will be verified though. Are you all sure?
- [+78, -2] Yes your educational status will be verified. However, normal high schools are established with the education law of elementary/middle/high but middle schools and high schools with only verified status are established with the law of training institute. You will be considered a high school graduate but you might not get accepted to a university if the university only approves high schools established with the education law. Even if you study hard, you won't be able to go to those universities. If you want to go to a university, it's better to take qualification exams instead.

4. [+164, -13] Real arts high schools are places like Seoul Arts or Sunhwa. How can you say Hanlim and Seoul Performing Arts are arts high schools ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ They're just commercial high schools.

5. [+150, -0] Your educational status will be verified but it's hugely looked down by students studying arts. They don't even call it an arts high school.

6. [+140, -0] Hanlim Arts High School isn't an arts high school ã…‹ã…‹ It's just a specialized high school. Only its name is an arts high school.

Korea needs to fix it's education system.

Anyone should be able to graduate and take any university they like as long as they pass the requirements/SAT's.

It seems that once you get into this art high schools you can't even try to go to Seoul or Kaist. Plus the discrimination of graduating in Hanlim or SOPA is just stupid.

Maybe because of the classes they take. These kind if schools sound more like vocational schools

Hmm then students should take natural science, rather than arts.

Top Universities usually don't take art students, unless it's art students that can give A+ building drawing.

What exactly do idols study in Hanlim? There is an arts high school in my country and I think they study painting and Sculpture. There isn't a single music school. You'd have to enter university for that.

my sister goes to an art school and they have like 3 different fields (music, painting, theatre) but they still have classes like math, biology, chemistry etc and they have no problem going into universities

I assume schools like hanlim don't provide natural sciences which might be the problem

Oh. So Hanlim doesn't have GED subjects? If that's the case, then they really can't enter university. It'll even make it harder for them because entrance exams require general education knowledge.

I don't think it's the education system's fault tho? I mean, yes, Korea has some issues regarding the insane pressure they put on their students but this particular case just seem like one of those commercial, for-profit schools that are established with the purpose of catering to a very specific type of students such as those who are aspiring to be trainees or idols.

I'm confused too because Hanlim students can too GOT7 Yugyeom took his test last year and Dahyun of Twice took hers this year.

... no lol

Universities do not want to deal with having to provide a crash course high school education to freshman. You can't go into university without having that fundamental foundation in practiced academics. The entrance exams, like all standardized test, not a total sum of one's abilities. You need a lot more functional skills than test taking to success at the university level.

These high schools idols go too have always seemed fishy to be. They do not produce very skilled idols. Not many of them can sing, not many of them can act, they can all dance, but don't have very strong technique.

Many Korea university have their own music/drama/arts degree? I wonder what happen to the students after they graduate and what they work as..

For singers and actors they have an healthy theatre industry, with plays, musicals, opera and other live shows. Actors do often also go into tv and film, a lot of the popular and awarded actors in Korea are grads. Musicians can join orchestras that play classical or contemporary compositions, either for live audiences or for the movie/tv industry. They can session musicians and work in the music industry. Artist, do what artist do everywhere.

Maybe its a case of can take the test but might not get into a more prestigious college. Like you can't get into an Ivy League school but other schools are fine.

Wow i wonder why they didnt put super basic classes. Even in my place vocation and art schools have it, or more like to be required by ministry of education because university entry test are those.

Poor the students i guess :derp:

The pan post is wrong. They do get a high school education. It's just that non art universities would look down on them and not accept them. Art high schools in general it's this way. Just handling and soap it's worse.

It's just completely up to university whether they accept your diploma. Kind of like how I attended online HS. Ivy League schools don't tryouts recognize diplomas from online schools.

This why you notice idols from hanlim and sopa go to arts universities or they go to universities who have big arts departments.
