I have a question. Some people on golden skate say that he is a bad spinner. Now let me tell you that I have 0 knowledge about the technical stuff (I´m just a casual fan of FS) but I always thought that his spins are beautiful. Could someone pls explain this to me?

hmm.. I'm not going to say he is a bad spinner per se, but he was better at it when he was younger. Certainly he's not great at it and it's far from his strenghts  (jumps and difficult entrances is where its at for Yuzu :hoplz:).

To put it simply, he looses speed and acceleration(although his sit spins have good speed), does not rotate more than the required revolutions (I think this has to do with him synchronizing with music), struggles with centering (he travels when spinning)... :._.:

Also, contrary to popular belief, his biellmann spins aren't working for him anymore (he's clearly very flexible, but he's starting to lose it as he ages). I think he should drop it. It was great when he was younger, but now it's meh. It's not beautifully extended anymore. I also don't like the way his leg springs down violently after the spin. :omgwtf: He should just drop it because I think he'll just injure his waist if he keeps it.

So yeap, his spins techncally aren't the greatest (far from it), but in fairness, I found his positions on different phases creative and somewhat original (due to his flexibility) :meow:

Edit: As much as I loved Yuzu's R&J FS @ 2012 Worlds, this was the moment I literally fell for him

This is a good read:

Yuzu's feelings about the tohoku disaster on its 3rd anniversary

"I headed into the Sochi Olympics with the thought of winning a medal and give it as a present to Japan which got wounded by the disaster. But after actually winning the competition, I suddenly felt powerless. I realized that the gold medal won't be able to directly help the recovery process. I had to transfer my base for training from Sendai where I was born all the way to Canada in order to aim for the gold, but I did start to think if it really was such a good idea to leave behind my hometown which was demolished by the disaster.

"3 years ago, on that day, I was training on the rink in Sendai. The ice suddenly rippled and then burst. The tremor was so strong, I couldn't even stand on my feet. Then I started to run away, crying, fearing that 'I might die like this'. Up to now, I still see flashbacks of that scene in my head. My tears do not stop, and I cry out in my sleep.

"There was also a time when I thought about quitting the sport altogether, but this changed the following year, last 2012, when I realized something after winning the bronze medal at the World Championships thanks to everyone's cheers and support. In my mind, I was skating for the sake of the other victims to give them strength and courage, but I realized that it was actually I who was being supported by them. It was the same in the Olympics. Their cheers and support helped give that little push on my back. The gold medal wasn't won just by myself, but by everyone who cheered me on.

"As a gold medal winner, I can now see what I should do. I intend to keep on skating in order to deliver to everyone what I truly feel -- please do not ever forget about the disaster-hit areas."

Thank you, it helped me a lot .

About his positions in spins .. I like them all except that one when he puts his leg over the head. I´m like:  :omgwtf:, everytime he does it.

yeah, I remember watching fan-cams of that ceremony. He was so happy - couldn´t contain his excitement

while I admire him and his desire to help the disaster areas, but I can´t help but agree with this comment. Especially with the bolded part.

57. Children who were victims of the disaster are more susceptible to post-traumatic stress disorder. I think it's much better not to keep telling them to do their best and force them to remember these things. Even right after the disaster, this boy has always been asked to look back and talk about his experiences, and everyone around him kept cheering him on and supporting him. It may be none of my business, but I'm actually worried about his mental state.

Machida was so good :stare:

and lol @ Yuzu watching Machida skate at the sidelines

I love love love his exit on the axel into a transition. Looked so fluid and gorgeous!!!

Hmmmm did he get lowballed on the PCS? the eurosport casters were talking about world record-level scores and he's just a bit off on it.

(I'm still really new to FS so scores...yeah.. meep.)

Hope Yuzuru performs as well as machida did!
