Vanilla Cupcake 3,584
Real talk [Don't neg me, I've always been curious about this], I 100% support gender equality in economy and politics. In my opinion, if a man and a woman have the same abilities and background, they should certainly be treated equally. But at the same time, I do also enjoy certain positive privileges of being a female (e.g. Ladies first, a male paying for a meal on the first date). In that case, am I still a feminist? From my understanding, being a feminist means absolute gender equality. But if I do enjoy certain "perks" of being a female, what does that mean then? Larme 3,478
yes why wouldn't you be? Some people seem to look at the actions of ignorant people (Feminazis) and think that is what Feminism is, when in fact Feminazis are not for equal rights and believe one gender is better than the other, and Feminist believe in equal rights for both. rich witch 20,592
yes but not in the way feminism is being portrayed today. nowadays a lot of feminists fail to differ between "freedom of choice for women" and "freeing women", thinking that ALL women should want successful & busy careers or be "unchained" from the chains of hijabs, and these are just two examples out of many. feminism is about having the freedom of choice of what you want to be and not making all women be a certain type - just like it was in the 20s but the other way around. it's like being back to square one in a way. besides, a lot of "feminists" today wank about petty things such as why this and that emoji is offensive instead of focusing on what's important, in actually making a change in the world. a lot of them advocate man-hating as well, and while i'm far from being a meninist and i got tons to say about shitty men and how they ruined my life, i separate them from my feminist identity since feminism is touching man issues too such as hypermasculinity and custody issues. so yeah. i'm a feminist, but i got a few things to say on the common feminist agenda nowadays. mochichan 12,341
Yes. I'm a girl so why wouldn't I want better rights and to do whatever they wants without discrimination or shame. Not here for the modern feminism that seems like low key misandry, or say women should have freedom while shaming their choices bc you don't agree with it tho...but I'm not going to distance myself from the word like some people does bc of some bad associations. YNRA 1,082
youre forgetting feminism is a movement specifically for women. it's not specifically equality. feminsim is a movement to make women's rights on par with men's rights. i support both men's, trans, and women's rights being equal, not just women's rights becoming on par. This, 100% my version of feminism. And this is why (along with mental health issues) I wound up leaving my uni's feminist society committee. They focus so much on microaggressions and will come for you over the smallest thing but when you're being open about struggling they don't want to know. It's all about feeling superior and I feel like a lot of the tactics hardcore "feminists" use wind up being very similar to abuse tactics. I'm a feminist. I will talk about feminism a lot, but I can't deal with the community of feminism atm.
space odyssey ✧* 413
frankly, most who identify themselves as feminist are pretty much all feminazis. they say they want equality, but really its female superiority they're after. Real talk [Don't neg me, I've always been curious about this], I 100% support gender equality in economy and politics.
