Episode 1

 

The members performance (my opinion)

 

 

 

 

Jiyoon  = great characterplay       good detective    great entertainment

Jangjin = good characterplay       great detective     great entertainment

Jihoon =  good characterplay        good detective    good entertainment

Guest =  good characterplay        average criminal    good entertainment

Eunji =    good characterplay       average detective   average entertainment

Seyong =  weak characterplay     good detective       weak entertainment

Rating in 5 steps = great / good / average / weak / horrible

the guest was good. Maybe not the smartest criminal (it was a bit obvious when he was suspected.) but he was playing his character well and he had some fun lines. Eunji can still improve... solid performance but not really great. I think she needs to get used to this show format and will do better in future episodes. Seyong is a good detective but he totally gave up on entertaining people and he was really bad at playing his character. Seyong worries me a little.

 

 

 

 

 

The 7 hints that can help solve the case

There were a total of 7 hints that can help solve the case.

 

 

 

 

1) search the garbage can and find empty poison bottle

= " the murderer is physically weak and had access to the office."

2) remove sticker on 1 of many energy drinks and find poison hole.

= "the murderer is physically weak and had access to the office."

The only 2 weak persons who can enter the victim's office freely are the wife and the old man.

 

3) take old man's phone and listen to audio

= "the driver was murdered by the victim + old man. he mentions "charcoal bomb."

4) take old man's memorystick and watch it

= "victim plans to kill someone (presumably the murderer) like "charcoal bomb". he mentions "account book".

5) find old man's account book in old man's room

= "old man is the suspect with the account book. Victim planned to murder him."

If you link 3+4+5 together you have the murderer's motive, but you need all 3.

 

6) find ripped waterproof jumper in old man's room

= "needed when murderer stabs the body and throws the body through window."

7) find a pic hidden in the safe with black tape.

= it shows that the old man murdered the driver with the same poison.

Probably the 2 strongest hints that directly point at the old man. Hint 7 (+ hint 1) is very strong.

 

All in all i gave this case difficulty 4. Some hints are easy to find (they always check the garbage) and some are really hard (who finds this 1 bottle among dozens of bottles ? who find out that the carkey is in fact a memory stick ?)

Jang Jin and Jae Rim were the stars of this episode! It wasn't hard to guess that it is him, but he was really great. Tbh this made me realize he is a good actor! lol And he found some good evidences. Eunji was also great, I liked her too. Only addition that doesn't make sense atm is the comedian but well I'll just ignore him Loved how assistant is much more involved, I'll miss the other guy though. Anticipating the next ep!

Just finished watching Ep.1 and I agree that it's a solid episode for an Ep.1 of the season.

 

The cast still needs more chemistry together but that'll improve later. Jang Jin - Ji Yoon's chemistry is still great. Ji Hoon fades in this episode because he is the detective and kinda takes a backseat role more. Eun Ji and Se Hyung are still nervous for the new show but I trust them that they will get better later.

 

The criminal isn't hard if you can get these many evidences against him but evidences themselves are the hard one to find. So great job for the casts for finding it and kudos to Jae Rim to hide these as long as possible because before the 2nd search he seems to be the least suspicious to me. I think Se Hyung is doing okay, he finds some good evidence and also a very important "USB car key". If that's not found, the direction of the investigation could go into another way so I think he is doing very well considering it's his first experience. About the character role play, I agree that he is too serious and very nervous but I think he will get better.

 

Eun Ji presence alone makes me smile throughout the episode so...PASS!!!

 

Next episode, very interesting about the twist. What could it be?

i enjoyed the first episode with just 1 complain, like the previous seasons they are too focused on the murderer motives, after watching all eps i noticed that in every cases almost all the suspects have strong motives even sometimes suspect with weaker motive could ended up being the murderer.  

 

I wish they could pay more attention to the technical things like matching the Alibis with the time of death, finding the weapons, etc.

im not saying that the characters (other than the murderer) shouldnt be given motives at all, just want to see they pay attention more to other stuffs because 80% of their discussions are only abt motives meanwhile the technical stuffs were mostly shown/discussed last minute with brief explanations. Imo motive is the least important to based on because in some case even a character with weaker motive were the murderer.

The comedy (banter, teasing) could also be made from discussions abt other topics, i still remember dongmin & jin ho funnily teasing each other to defend their alibis
