LucyyJ26 557 Posted February 19, 2017 Share Posted February 19, 2017 With Soshi's tenth anniversary album set to release this year I've been thinking a lot about potential concepts, but really, they've done it all. I set to thinking beyond arbitrary visual concepts and thought about actual album concepts. It's been confirmed that they're all working on this album individually so it's going to have a much more personalised sound than their previous albums and they really have the chance to push their own boundaries this time around. The tenth anniversary album is a landmark one. It's going to be special, not just any old k-pop release. Listening today to one of my favourite non k-pop albums, Electra Heart by Marina and the Diamonds, it got me thinking. Electra Heart is an album with an extremely pop sound. It's ear candy in the best possible way because not only do the songs get into your head and stay there forever, they're actually saying something. Beyond the catchy-as-hell dance numbers, the lyrics talk about real issues in a way that makes you really think about what was said once you're finished listening. For example, Bubble Gum Bitch and Primadonna talk about girls who play with the hearts of men and wait for the world to be given to them on silver platters. Valley of the Dolls talks about celebrity culture, where people "pick personalities for free", eventually "dying like shooting stars, in the valley of the dolls". It made me think that Soshi could do something like this using their own experiences in the idol industry. Deliver the catchy earworms we've come to expect from them but say something important at the same time. They have the platform now, after all, and George Harrison said that once you have that you should use it to better the world around you. What do you think? Would it be feasible? Has anyone else here heard that album? If you haven't, you definitely need to go and listen to Marina's entire discography. She's fantastic. EDIT: Oh my god guys I can't stop thinking about it. I just had her first album playing and Hollywood is so perfect. Imagine if Soshi had their own Hollywood and they officially transitioned from idols to artists I know it probably won't happen like I want it to, but I can't get over the idea that this could be the Girls' Generation album. And the mv we want our girls to singing outside. And would be nice if they release a slow tempo song with story type of mv and then a week later the main release. We should petition I love EH, the album is gold. I'd love to see soshi comeback with a similar sound/concept. OT but recently, I keep on getting the feeling that snsd might comeback wth a song that's similar to ITNW in terms of lyrics. I think it'd make sense if they did. ITNW is iconic, it would only make sense for them to call back to it. I wonder if they could do that and put out a Marina type song at the same time? I think so. Marina is amazing! I'd love a ballad + upbeat title track for Soshi this time and not something cutesy like Lion Heart. I think an upbeat song would be better for the title track but a ballad is a must for a Soshi album! Maybe a dual title track? Or should attention be focused on just one song?
