Any individual can be racist. Institutionalized racism is probably the worst form of it, and that is what, I believe, people are referring to when they say "black people cannot be racist," at least in the US and many nations, because of the power dynamic.

Same could be said about why Asians stereotype or are prejudice against blacks because they experience and see it first hand. Not only with name calling but also they are highly targeted by blacks in terms of robberies. So I guess we can't fault asians for thinking blacks are thugs and dangerous. But I agree main point of this thread is to make a clear point we should judge people as individuals not as a collective because anyone no matter what race can be racist. But it seems the only narrative that get's attention is that whites are racist against blacks.

reducing all ills in the world to white people is short-sighted and regressive. that doesn't apologize for all of the terrible things white people have done throughout history, and still continue to do, but claiming that racism can only come from someone in a position of power ignores the racial tensions and prejudice that exists in society. tribalism affects everyone, it's integrated into our brains. look at what's going on in places like CA between blacks and asians. what is the benefit of ignoring that?

It's very possible for a black person to be racist to another racial minority. The best example I can give for this is, say, an Asian being discriminated against in an African-majority country, because of their ethnicity. This is probably the strongest example, since in a African-majority country Africans hold the authoritative and social power.

 

So to say that it is impossible for a minority to be racist towards another minority makes no sense.

The difference between the poor black neighbourhoods and the middle class Asian ones is fathers/culture. These blacks kids are growing up fatherless. Not having fathers present I feel has really affected American blacks/culture negatively. The welfare state/war on drugs have taken fathers away. Also the black crime rate against whites is very high compared to white on black crime in terms of murders and rapes. There does need to be a discussion though but not when it's always and only focused on white/black. It sucks that blacks are viewed this way and some of it is at the fault of movies, music, entertainment, etc.

The black American family was strong even during slavery times when family's were being split/sold apart. Can you please stop bringing up the black American family structure during the slavery time because it is very insulting and disgusting. If you actually read an history book, you would never mention this. At least use the post-slavery and pre-civil right era as an example.

 

 

Also, Hip-Hop is not created for black people or children. White teens.and young adults are the numbers one consumers of Hip-Hop. Single motherhood is not only a black American problems. The America population as an whole is going through a major drugs problems. There is a big opioid epidemic going on in some white communities. The problems that you listed is an American problems even though certain black American communities are impacted more by one form than the other. It should be treated as an American problems, not just a black American communities problem.

 

Black Americans will stop playing victimhood when white Americans stop denying that institutional racism is not a thing of the past. It a two way streets. Both sides should have genius and honest discussion.
