Has Anyone Won Music Bank With a Digital Single?

Yeah that's one.  And I guess 2ne1 is another.

Has Music Bank's system changed recently? Just curious, because point totals since Crayon Pop's August win seem pretty low for some reason.

Yeah they used to be around over 10k or more heck even Psy got over 30k score

I think since they changed PD the score got lower

IU feat Seulong did with Nagging

IU also did with Friday

Friday is from Modern Times - Epilogue, so it is not a digital single.

2ne1 3 times with 3 different songs last year

I thought they didn't perform on Music Bank? They won 3 times with FIL (M!C, Music Core, Inki), once with Do You Love Me (M!C) and several times with Missing You but not on Music Bank since they didn't perform here = no broadcast points

They won with IATB in 2011!

As people said, B2ST with On Rainy Days, and maybe GD last year since he released the digital album first (with Black) and then the 2nd part physically

Huh, I thought Lee Hi could have won there, considering Ailee won with I Will Show You (amidst all of Psy's wins orz orz orz) and her physical game is pretty insignificant.  But I think YG (not Psy, obv) had an issue with KBS MuBank at the time.  Everyone was amazed when YG acts showed up there in 2013.

Gee 9 times in 2009.

At that time, Music Bank is pure based on digital sales.

So it does not matter if you released a digital single or a physical album. only digital scores were counted.

IN fact having physical release meant fans were likely to only buy the album and it would actually weaken digital sales a little bit.

None of those happened on Music Bank though...

2NE1

2011 August 5 "I Am the Best"

I Am the Best was released when their physical album was released, they had 4383 physical sales points.

BEAST won with On Rainy Days as a pre-release single does that count?

K-Chart will give physical sales points to the song from the album with the highest digital sales, so it's not like they won that one without any help from physical sales. Considering that 10000 of their 14000 points came from physical sales, I don't think this is what OP is thining of.

They changed it beginning on the August 30th broadcast last year. 3 of the categories changed:

-Originally the digital sales part included only the top 100, but it has since been expanded to the top 200, which means digital sales points are lower than before since the 130,000 points in that category are divided over more songs.

-Viewer survey used to include only 70-80 songs each week, and now includes 100+ songs. Again, the 20,000 points are divided over more songs, so points are generally lower.

-The definition of a broadcast has changed in such a way that each broadcast is now worth about 1/4th of what they used to.

Since physical sales have not changed while the other categories have all had their points more divided, this means that physical sales points now have a much larger effect on the winner compared to the last system. 5000 points is enough to snag a win now, and if 3500 of those are physical sales points you may not even need 1000 in digital points to win. Before, even with 3500 physical sales points you usually needed at least 2500 digital sales points to win. VIXX would not have won under the previous system, and B.A.P, who I believe will win today, would not either.

I think what you're really trying to ask is "have songs ever won with little or no physical sales"-- because if a song is NOT a digital single, if there are no physical sales (for example, if the physical album has not been released yet, etc.), then it cannot get any boost from physical sales. The answer is yes, plenty of songs have won Music Bank without physical sales.

Actually, they used digital+physical every week, and at the end of the month they would include the viewer survey too. Wikipedia has a good summary of the different systems used.

Yeah this is more of what I was talking about.  Thanks for all the info.

I was surprised by the music bank change. I thought it would be harder now for physical sales to affect the score, but it makes sense how you explained it.
