Why do Kpop fans care so much about views?

All I see in the front section are all Army's moanin and complainin about YouTube scamming BigHit for their viewership monetary gains?

How the "spammed" comment section is greater than that of the views...

Or even the Likes...

Wtf?

:imstupid:

PS: Twice is the only Kpop group to have had ALL 3 of their back to back MVs (since debut) to exceed 100 Million views :)

views is cool for if they company reward for prizes at x & y # of views (like dance practices or special video) but its degraded to spamming views, comments, and likes now for gloating and stuff, very arbituary things, especially given how easy it is to comment, and to create new channel on ur account and like the video (honestly takes seconds) so idk what those are about

I don't think BlackPink will get there when Stay exists.

but answering your question, people in kpop (or pop industry in general) are way more obsessed over achievements than other stuff

I've never really understood why it's that important after the first 24 hours, TBH~

Like the most 24 hour record is a nice thing to go for, but after that, it's just you sitting there streaming the song all day (which, I myself do, but I don't freak out about the views cuz there's nothing to gain at that point, TBH)~ The views will increase in time, you don't gain anything more from an MV having high views in a short amount of time than it would in a longer amount of time~

Even tho

PWF was more of the actual title track than Stay

And even then, I don't doubt the possibility of Stay hitting 100M views in the future :)

Personally, I don't stream songs over and over again because it's easy for me to get tired of it of I listen to it that much. I like to stream YouTube MVs every now and then.

Cmiiw?

But don't YT views count towards music wins? Like a good % of it?

idk but Twice should get an award for getting so many dislikes lol

That's just a conspiracy

I will not point fingers at a specific fandom or a certain country...

But you get the idea

"Why do kpop fans care about views"....proceeds to brag about Twice :imstupid:

Not unless that was the joke.

:hurr:

Being a Kpop fan has also made me obsess over YT views :derp:

Yes, they do~ I thought you were just referring to views like 100 million races~ But yes, streaming the MV is also useful for promotions, but I don't think it's about the number of views itself, but how much the MV is being watched during that time~

Oh so only during promotional period for that certain song? Makes sense

But yeah, I guess altogether after that is definitely more so bragging rights

It's just that you don't see this type of competitiveness with western acts

1st gives money to the channel

2nd its counted towards the music shows

3rd people like to compete

i guess?

:hurr:

True :hurr:

Because clearly if my faves get 25,870 more views than your faves did at their 16th hour of upload, it's simply because my faves are superior and out-slay your fave's nugudom.

:imstupid:  :imstupid:  :imstupid:

Though in all seriousness - a little competition never hurt anyone, but it gets way too over-the-top when it comes to K-Pop releases.
