Some of the top comments on Naver following today's episode (translated by me):

 

  • Swings hogged the spotlight. He picked a style that was his strong suit and wasn't considerate of Hamin's style. 
  • Hamin would've done better if he was on Giriboy's team and had his beats.
  • They don't match at all (referring to Choi Hamin and Swings)
  • Kim Kyuheon shined the most today
  • Kim Kyuheon is sadly edited out of the show so much but he showed today that he is king
  • Young B rode the beat so well
  • For some reason I missed Oh Dam Ryul after today's episode. I wished he was on instead of MC Gree
  • Jessi hard-carried that performance. MC Gree should be thankful
  • Sunjae and MadClown showed what a good collaboration is (Swings take note)
  • I like it when Sunjae goes "ay" (LOL)
  • The best thing to happen to Giriboy's career was "High School Rapper"

I just checked Melon's chart & so surprised to see some of HSR's studio version appear here :)

I thought they'll release studio version after the final, but still, I'm happy to hear "Bunzi" recoreded version! :la:

Oh, thanks for this. Seonjae x Mad Clown one's maybe very good lyric-wise (can only catch some) but I think the others are catchier. How about the other songs? I don't know why but Busan Team x Deepflow "Coming to Seoul"(?) one's very catchy for me, ended up replaying.

 

If there's a revival round, I'm gunning for Hamin, Seonjae, and... hmm, not my style but maybe Byungho?

I think they only released collab song between mentor & contestants :(

I actually quite surprise that Jessie chose MC Gree to perform with her. Maybe his voice matches her better. Tbh, I don't like his rap in the performance, but listen to the studio version, it's much much better :)

About the ribbon, I think it's just his school uniform. But I'm not sure :lol:

That's been the talk on the hiphop DC gall after the episode aired. There were threads about how MC Gree was only chosen for his name power (to help with digital sales) instead of their #1 Kim Kyuheon. My husband thought Kim Kyuheon still performed the best in this episode and just like the netizens' top comments, he kept saying that he wished Chinchilla was on instead of MC Gree lol. I already know the spoilers but putting that aside, some of the most viewed threads on there are theories/proof about how mnet has been pushing for MC Gree and Mark to get to the finals.

Yup. I love my boy, surely I do, but honestly during 1:1:1 I thought another contestant did better than Mark. He's good but he isn't on par with other contestants yet. Same with Gree. Honestly when both of his 1:1:1 competitors forgot their lyrics... It looked so fake and staged.

 

(I hope we can discuss this, level-headedly, if so, because that's the purpose of a discussion forum, right?)

This is a rap show talents are important but it's variety show after all, they need interesting characters to draw views, so they build up story for Hamin/Young B, McGree and Mark are celeb so they have their own stories alr. Students like Seonjae, Kyuheon are good rappers but they don't have room to build up characters, so sadly get discarded. Most of audience are not pro at rap to know who's very good, who's just slightly good, except someone is too bad, they just tell from live reaction (which is alr edited by Mnet). Ofc who's experienced w hip-hop/rap will tell otherwise but they are minor anw... I don't think Mark is that good, esp when compared w brown team amgplz.png, but I'm fan so provided there's no big controversy/backlash against him I'm all good and nvm who's actually better... Mark treasures his HSR experience so much, it's sad that some comments in DCGall were 'yeah I acknowledge him for his face, not his skill'. Well, yea, he is not as grwat as the others who have years of underground experiences. As he said, he is there to develop himself. I can see him improving but I wish they let him (and MC Gree) go when it was the time to. (Is it weird that a fan said that? Lol)

 

Yeah it's really clear that mnet are using them for attracting broader audience.

 

Honestly, in my opinion this show is so poorly planned, that even the evil editing is not the main issue. It's heavily biased to Swings and Giriboy's teams, I feel bad for feeling that the others were there to fill the quota. They got so minimal airtime, some didn't even get any. The favoritism is too blatant, both from the judges and the production team, and it's also felt so rushed.

 

I hate this show since the beginning (not related to Mark's participating, personal issue), but I also expected it to be better than this hahahaha

I thought he did fine and I'm good with him winning 1:1:1 cause I don't really remember the rest of his team anyways. However I would be totally not okay with him winning well everything. That would be so wrong. If he gets eliminated after this round with a good song and reception, that would be the best (proof that he is good, esp compared to other idols, and got the public exposure too).

As someone said, it's likely to be a filler show before PD101 is aired so poor production is expected. I don't even expect anything, like I watched several Mnet shows before and this show is going the way of Boys24 (following up of PD101 but flop...). This is more like following up of SMTM but the scale is not there, it's just filler show w 8 eps anw... It turned out to be much better than I thought (w great stages from the students, they're soooo good), and it didn't flop (rating/attention wise) at alllll, which means Mark benefited a lot in popularity, I can't wish more as NCT fan. So overall it's actually more decent than my expectation lol.
