gillyweeds 1,497 Posted February 10, 2017 Share Posted February 10, 2017 I do think that Hyolyn's p. much typecast at this point, if she's not doing her best Beyonce cosplay or hitting a high note people just don't care to hear it. Hindsight is 20/20 so I don't think that it's Starship's fault that them and Hyolyn just kept giving the people what they wanted instead of cultivating her own sound. I mean I loved all of those high note Beyonce-esque songs that Hyolyn would perform on IS2 and Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook. But I will say that Starship totally missed an opportunity to turn Hyolyn into a idol producer. G-dragon being an idol and a producer is so beneficial to YG, it makes them look so good. That's something that GD learned from being able to work with other producers which I think is something that YG pushed for (or at least didn't flat out reject). My one thing about Sistar is that we really haven't seen them (as a group) perform music they like/would want to perform. Everything is picked out for them. I remember Soyou talking about how she wasn't fond of Shake It and even though that song did well for them, I think in the long run it's better for groups to have the opportunity to semi-produce themselves. I hate that starship made them a summer group.But i honestly believe that ilt underperforming had a lot to do with the chorus not being catchy enough.I feel like they should have used double sidekick or brave brother for a sexy song.Bep songs are lacklustre. As a fan I really enjoy them. We Star1 need to get over the fact that Sistar has 2 options: 1. They make popular music and get the Won and popularity or 2. They make good music and sometimes flop.
