- What I was taught was when you whistle at night, a snake will come out

- I really believed that I'd go blind if I touched a butterfly and then my eyesã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ My mother always used to nag me about that

- I'm so embarrassed about the fan thing

- But I do watch out for these things thoughã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

- It's my first time hearing about the last oneã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

- So for years I never knew about the 'fan death' and I've been sleeping with a fan on in the summer.  I haven't died

- I was always told not to cut your fingernails at night.. I forgot why though? Was it because you'd turn into a mouse-like person..?
> Isn't it because you'll go "aahh!!" if you cut it wrong since it's so dark at night??
> Someone told me that you'll hear footsteps come up behind you if you do..
> I think it came from Japan.  I heard that if you cut your nails at night, something that's not human will appear

- For the chicken wings superstition, I don't think it's just for men, it's to anyone who eats it.  I also heard your skin will become really nice if you eat the meaty parts of the chicken wingã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

- I've heard that the fan superstition was a lie started by elders to save up on electricity

- There are a few on there that I'm finding out for the first time

- Yeah I've heard of theseã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

the number 4 superstition isn't just a Korean superstition, it's also a Chinese and Japanese superstition as well. In Chinese, the word for 4 (sì) sounds very similar to the word for death (sÇ) and in Japanese, the word for four (å››) and death (æ») are both pronounced ã— (shi).

I was taught that when you whistle at night, a robber will come to your house but depending on the region (?) they say snake so I don't know... And also if you cut your nails at night you won't be able to see your parents when they die or something like that.

Hahah, saaame. I used to be terrified of butterflies and moths as a child because of my mom. The number 4, death and 4 are pronounced the same in Korean (사), and sudden fan death thing, too. My mom still won't sleep with a fan on. Science who?

That last one has been around for a while. When I was a child, my mom always told us not to walk over our siblings legs cause we wouldn't get taller. I thought it was an old African America, Voodoo thing.

It's kind of similar for me as well. I used to get scolded I stepped over the legs of someone older than me but I think it has to do more with respect in my case haha ^_^

Also the fan one is kind of hilarious XD

My mom told me about the second one when I was younger, and I used to be so scared about not writing my name on stuff until like fourth grade because the teacher would fill in your name with red ink on worksheets lmao  :derp:

I believe superstition #2 also came from China. I was told red was the color used to write on the epitaph thus, I must not write my name in red.
