Do you think Closet Gay Idols Feel Uncomfortable Doing Skinship?

I always wonder how they feel about being encouraged to do skinship for their fans while possibly being attracted or having real crushes on their members.

I remember Sungjong went thru a complete image overhaul to look more masculine and now he doesn't even seem like the same person anymore.  It's like he's always holding back, trying not to show his true feelings.  You can tell in this gif that he's crushing hard on L but has to pretend to be uninterested and "manly".  Look at the sadness in his smile as L tries to reignite the lovey dovey relationship that they once had.  Its almost as if L knows what Sungjong is going thru and he's just smiling at him like "hey I'm here for you, its ok to be yourself kid."

yeahhh doing stuff like that with straight guys, especially ones you find attractive, would be pretty soul-crushing

then again

id savour in the moment of hot ppl touching me

this works too if you're not the type of person to be too emotionally attached

uh I'm not too sure about your example lol but it's going to depend on the person; some people just happen to be really comfortable with skinship in general, whether someone they're attracted to is present or not, and some people are just going to be uncomfortable

Idk korean male friends normally have a lot of skinship

I remember an old korean friend of mine said that they used to shower together and like joke around touching each others penises lol

I think they are so used to doing gay stuff that it has become normal for them, since a lot of korean people seriously believe that there's no gay people in their country

It depends on the idol I guess... Heechul doesn't seem too bothered when he kisses his members (but then again, is Heechul still in the closet?).

And shipping aside, Sungjong did (does?) go through hell to look "manlier"...

it's a job

I think they might find it distasteful, but I doubt all gay idols are in some sort of tortured unrequited love situation like all the fanfic writers make out

I mean I'm not even closeted but I can hug my friends that are not attracted to me without being like, 'o, woe is me that they don't like me'

Interesting, so its kinda like the Greeks where they had sexual experiances with men but would never actually marry a man or be in a traditional relationship with one.

Skinships between Korean guys are for bonding purpose but there are also guys who hated it but this only applied to native Koreans even Korean Americans aren't used to that much of skinships

Well not really "sexual experiences" more like doing things that you usually don't do between male friends in like Europe, US etc

like for example hugging, you've probably seen that happening at least once xd

But they never think that they do it because they're gay, it's just affection or for fun. But those are mostly like the "cute" korean males. But there's also a lot of "mature" korean men who completely dislikes those kind of stuff xd

buuttt like every korean man has showered with another male friend naked at least once

Interesting, so maybe its not so awkward for closet gay Kpop idols then since its normalized even outside of the kpopuniverse.  Its sad that Sungjong was singled out tho, no other idol was forced to dial down the gay.

I believe there is a lot of them who was forced to do it

In around like 2012 or so, there were a lot of kpop idols that were kind of gayish, but it's strange because now I never see anyone like that.

I feel like the companies have made sure that the kpop idols are manly these days

tbh i dont think so, only unless they like the person doing skinship with them? i mean, its not like all gay people are attracted to the people of same gender?? like if you're straight, you can still be friends with people that are of opposite genders without feeling uncomfortable with them..... maybe that didnt make sense lol

Maybe for closeted idols, they just don't see their members in that way. Maybe when they do skinship, because they have such a familial relationship with their members, romantic or sexual thoughts just never come to them. I know I have basically 0 interest in my male friends, even though I like guys. We've been bros for so long, it'd be super weird to have it any other way. Of course, it all depends on the idol.
