Till now there hasn't been any serious scandal two have been in. I'm not counting Tzuyu's scandal because it was related to China and Taiwan and had nothing to do with Korea. We've already seen groups like T-ara and AOA falling immensely in popularity following their scandals whereas groups like SNSD and Exo have survived. Twicebabies 1,868 Posted January 28, 2017 Share Posted January 28, 2017 T-ara was like 2 years in that time, although they were very big, so they were still kinda vulnerable + MBK handled it really badly AOA was not as big during their peak and their fandom was not enough to protect them + FNC bad damage control. SNSD didn't really have any major scandals (pann attitude scandals are not included bec they are too stupid to recognize) + SM does good damage control Its really about how the company handles it and the amount of fans that you have gathered (w/c takes years) to protect you from big scandals. But considering how WG retained popularity after so many lineup changes gives me hope that twice may survive. If it's a dating scandal it depends on who,with whom,and when. BTS must make sure that they won't get into a scandal that would turn off their fans because they don't have that much interest of the general public and they're not really known for their music. As for Twice, hmmm idk. It really depends to what scandal since Tzuyu's scandal even helped their popularity (in Korea - where it all matters btw) a lot despite the negative comments about how JYP handled that situation. Look at what happened with Kai, Baekhyun, Tiffany, Sulli and many more. I actually think that they dont do damage control. To answer the question, if its not huge scandals like drugs, bullying or members leaving, I think the fans can forgive them and they will survive it. Whereas if it was a big scandal it'd last longer. I think if TWICE got into a scandal they might face some serious backlash (because they're a girl group an all) and they might lose some fans.. If BTS were to get into a scandal I don't think they would face as much backlash as a gg (but it really does depend on what the scandal is in the first place). A small scandal (like dating) would hurt Twice but I'm sure they would recover, a small scandal wouldn't hurt bts at all tbh although a dating scandal with the maknae line would have the fandom shook. A big scandal (like drugs, bullying, racism, rape or anything illegal) would do a lot of damage to both groups, especially if the fans can't look past it. If a member were to leave either groups I think Twice would pull through but bts may suffer since they're well known for being close and that OT7 image would be shattered. Twice is qualitatively different from other newgen large groups like DIA, OMG or CLC where random member additions or subtractions are possible without huge controversy and the fandom going crazy. I know Onces would absolutely lose their shit if any of the Twice members suddenly left and it would hugely tarnish Twice's image of being a group where each member is absolutely unique and indispensable, especially since so much of Twice's appeal is just the girls hanging out and having fun on vlives, Instragram posts, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
