Do you consider 'gringo' a derogatory word?

Gringo are mainly used in Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries, to refer to someone from the United States, particularly a white person. Tbh most of the time gringos is used in a derogatory or even xenophobic way but I dont see it as a offensive word.

The word gringo is indeed meant to be offensive towards white Americans, but there are times where is not used in a bad way, in latin countries, many terms that are meant to be offensive are often used in a friendly way, to refer to a friend or even a family member for example.

Is not that it isn't a derogatory word, is just that many things are not taken seriously in these cultures, or at least not in my culture.

Nope i don´t find it offensive at all; also Americans have used way more offensive terms to refer to latin people.

It isn't though, gringo for example is way less harmful than cracker lol. That's how less offensive it is and comes off.
