In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. THE LAST JEDI is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is scheduled for release December 15, 2017. StarWars.com - All Star Wars, all the time. + "Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Who Is The Title Referring To?" cr The title of Star Wars: Episode VIII is now Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It's a loaded title, only the third (one per trilogy?) that doesn't have a verb in it. It follows a couple of exact lines of dialogue, as well, that give us some hints as to whom it's referring to (more on that in a moment). It's also interesting to have a title with such finality being the middle chapter of a trilogy - Return and Revenge are titles with finality, too - but they were the last chapters of their respective stories. So who is the Last Jedi? We'll go over some options - and start with the obvious one. Remember, Jedi can be singular or plural, so the fun part is it could be all of these things.
