Kyuhyun undergoes a physical check with the Military Manpower Administration and was classified to serve as Level 4 public service worker. His enlistment date hasn’t been decided yet but he’ll be having a 4-week basic military training once he goes in the army

 

He was classified as a public service officer because of his previous accident. 
Public service work is for 24 months, accdg to the website they work Mon-Fri 9am - 6pm with some duties on Saturdays

What kind of accident are you guys talking about?

 

A car accident in 2007.

Car accident

On the early morning of April 19, 2007, Kyuhyun along with Super Junior members Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, and two managers were all hospitalized due to a serious car accident when a front tire burst and the car hit a guard rail while returning from the Super Junior Kiss the Radio show.[46] Kyuhyun, who was sitting behind the driver's seat when the accident occurred, was the most injured and had a fractured hip, pneumothorax from broken ribs, and facial scratches and bruises.[47][48]

The doctor told Kyuhyun's parents that to repair his pierced lungs he would have to make a hole in Kyuhyun's neck thus ending his career as a singer; Kyuhyun's father was the first to immediately reject the operation, stating that Kyuhyun would rather die than not be able to sing, and pleaded that the doctor find another way to repair his son's lungs.[49] He was in a coma for four days and was told by doctors that he, "had about a 20 percent chance to live."[50] Kyuhyun spent 6 days in the ICU before he was moved to a regular hospital room.[51] Kyuhyun no longer needed the respiratory machine to support his breathing, though it was said that he was only able to walk on his own one month after the accident.[49] Kyuhyun was discharged on July 5, 2007 after 78 days.

I think they're talking about the Suju accident where a lot of members got hurt unless he was in a different one at some point. I know car accidents aren't uncommon.

even tho there are already 10 member enlist before but the feeling is still remain the same it still sad :rlytearpls:

 

It took us 10 freakin years to wait our boys to complete their military service.

 

8 members as active duty and 3 as public service, we almost there guys :cry:

Oh, this is such a shame,althought it was to be expected. Public service is the longest and no military band as well, just as Yesung, he will probably completely disappear from the radar for two years as performer. No Kyu voice for two long years. :cry: Or he can pull a Heechul and do some military radio at least? :rlytearpls:

iirc they wanted to go together as a group, but SM wouldn't let them.

Silly thing is, eventhough they enlist one by one, Suju still have to do hiatus for a few times. SM really should have let them go as a group, that would be only 2 years hiatus because of enlistment.

That was to be expected considering the car accident he had.

 

Oh man, I hope EXO doesn't have to wait this damn long once Xiumin begins to enlist.

 

the gap between Xiumin, who's the oldest and Sehun, who's the youngest in Exo is 4 years.

So, theorethicaly, ExoLs will have to wait 6 years (2019- 2024) , until Exo are again in complete formation.

I'm never going to be ready for his actual enlistment. Kyuhyun is a member we always get frequent updates about, with Radio Star airing weekly and other variety, musical, and solo con news. It's going to feel so empty when he completely disappears for 2 years.
