I was wondering if rechoku or itunes the numbers of download along with the ranking like how oricon digital chart does. or like Melon, they hv the figures of how many downloads.

As for line and apple music streaming, is it for free or we need to pay for subscription? Can it be manipulated? Sorry for so many questions. I am trying to get a clearer view of Japan's digital situation.

http://aramajapan.co...ms-chart/66751/

i see... so if an artist sold like 7k weekly, then would mean daily download would be around 1k? and that 1k were shared by 4 providers... means one provider hv like few hundreds download daily?

i always thought that digital hv like more numbers compared to physical.....

anyway, thank you!

It's mostly pay to play in Japan. RIAJ actually provides a breakdown of the numbers for the first quarter of 2017.

Single song downloads:

27 million (worth 4364 million Yen)

Album downloads:

2.5 million (worth 2586 million Yen)

Streaming (value):

Paid/subscription: 5547 million Yen

Free/ad supported: 16 million Yen

Comments

TWICE is very hot in Japan right now and this is reflected in the streaming charts, where they rank their entire mini-album within the LINE MUSIC top 10. They also dominate Japanese YouTube, as they've been doing for the last few months.

In LINE Music, almost the whole top 10 is brand new except for "SIGNAL" and "RAIN". The staying power of SEKAI NO OWARI's new single -- which is used as the theme for the animated movie "Mary and the Witch's Flower" -- is very impressive and indicates a huge hit from them. AAA also had success with their new single but TWICE's release stole their thunder. Also new to the top 10: EXILE THE SECOND and young singers Leola (whose song is used as theme for a teen romcom movie) and Sonoko Inoue.

On YouTube, besides Twice domination, HUNTER x HUNTER songs are doing really well thanks to a lot of people rewatching videos related to the manga and anime due to the announcement of its return. "Sora" by GENERATIONS also gets a boost thanks to the upcoming release of their album.

Whoa those are amazing numbers by Twice. Are there any promos going on?

Though that being said, it does reflect what I have started seeing with a lot of the people I follow.

A lot. They were all over the media in their release week, not to mention the Music Station appearance. Also, their Korean songs have been popular on YouTube and LINE Music ever since "TT" was released late last year.

Interesting, its good to know that they might actually support it and not let it die like other digital hits. Hopefully this pays off.

Comments:

Sorry for the lateness! When it comes to streaming, TWICE is still an unmatchable force in Japan but GENERATIONS have an amazing first week on LINE MUSIC while SEKAI NO OWARI shows amazing staying power. On Youtube, nothing very noticeable except for the release of a live version of FLOW's GO! which boosted the song on YouTube.
