[iNTERVIEW] 130813 A Pink, bright and clean confidence!

Q: It's been more than a month since your promotions with the new album. How do you feel?

Hayoung: Time flies too fast. I'm sad that our activities are ending soon. NoNoNo is a song that we really grow attached to. We are thankful for getting the first place, but I'm still sad (that the activities are ending soon).

Q: It took longer than ever, but it is better than ever. How do you feel?
Chorong: We didn't think that we will get the first place or our song will stay at the chart. We prepared so hard, so we think that it's good if there's a good response, but we don't expect things like 'we have to win the first place'. We wanted to have a long and fun activities. We missed the stage more than anyone. At first people around us said that if we worked hard for it then it'll be enough so we started the activities without any burden, but the feedbacks are better than our expectation, I think because of that we feel that the time flies.

Q: Looking at the performances, everyone's skills are improving. What did you do on your break?
Chorong: Training like we used to as trainees. Staying at the practice room till 1~2 AM, especially Namjoo there are times when she stayed a little bit more. Namjoo is a greedy person in a good way so she gives her effort (on practicing), lately on shows I can see that she really puts her effort on it. She is actually a doing-goon friend but now she got better.
Namjoo: Chorong unnie thanks. (laughs) We are actually don't really enjoy resting, because we wanted to show a better image all of us are really working hard for it. Rather than saying my skills are improving I'd like to call it compared than I was a trainee I'm much better now.

Q: I heard that when you were preparing for this album the company wanted a change.
Chorong: Rather than wanted to have a significant different changes, because we have bright and clean image, they said it'll be good if you give some strong image. Because it's a comeback after a year they told us to show a new image, to show what we've been working on. But we think that it's a comeback after a year so why don't we show a A Pink like image and the fans will like it too. So we chose NoNoNo as our title song.

Q: The title song is NoNoNo but UYou really gives an A Pink-ish kind of song.
Eunji: Our youth image from last year is really strong. If you think about the youth image we have song like UYou is our song. But based on our image we wanted to show a little more mature performances. NoNoNo is not a love confession song but a song to give someone a strength. We wanted to show a matured A Pink so we chose NoNoNo as our title song.
Bomi: When we were choosing our title song we didn't only think about the song but we also think about how will our performances will be and because of that we wanted to show (the matured A Pink) with NoNoNo.

Q: There is an corner in 10Asia that is called "10Cameraman" it's an article to compare. We wrote about A PInk. Did you see it? There are many things you wanted to show on the stage, but which part do you wish that we should catch the best?
Chorong: Ah, i saw that article!
Eunji: (humming) No matter what 'Don't be sad~ No No No' it's that part, right?
Chorong: (humming) I'd say the "ttanttadanttanttanttanttan" part. If you take it from the main path and then go to the front it will be pretty.

Q: There's a same move this time with Eunji's trademark part in I Don't Know (creating a butterfly using hands). Did you do that on purpose?
Eunji: That's right. I sing "For a long time you endured a lot" at that part to convey the message to our fans so I put a gesture from I Don't Know. After that gesture I did a wiping sweat gesture.

Q: You made a commitment that if you win the first place you'll rap like Outsider. Did you practice it?
Eunji: Bomi was the one who made the commitment to rap like Outsider sunbaenim, but I think people didn't see it (on broadcast).
Chorong: At that time we didn't have time. At Music Bank we didn't have time to say our acceptance speech, at that little time given we hold back our tears but it's really hard to say our speech fastly. But Bomi in the midst of everything did her commitment. I didn't know. I was crying while bowing, I lost my mind. It didn't come out on the broadcast, it's such a waste.
Hayoung: I was crying but looking at Bomi unnie made me smile.
Bomi: Now, Outsider sunbaenim is doing their activities, I get embarassed if I meet them.

Q: Outsider knew about A Pink's commitment and responded to it, there were articles about it too.
Everyone: We were waiting for it. Because they just made their comeback they must be really busy. We are looking forward for them.
Chorong: In addition, they even took a certification pictures, we are really thankful.

Q: I think that you normally enjoy Outsider's rap.
Bomi: Outisider sunbaenim's Like a Man is number 18 in my karaoke. (laughs)

Q: The video for winning first on Show! Champion was really impressive.
Eunji: At first they called us to record a simple video. But suddenly, they gave us a trophy so everyone where like, "Whoa, what is this?".
Naeun: We really didn't know at all.
Bomi: The trophy is in our company right now, but you still can see the tears mark on it.

Q: How do you say your winning speech formally?
Chorong: We don't need many words. We're just really thankful. Truthfully everytime they are giving the first place award we are standing in back, clapping and watching, but being in the front and getting the trophy is a new feeling for us. We can't express our feelings well. When we receive the first place we just can't think about anything. We returned with full members with this album, thinking about an album with the members' hardwork makes me cry.

Q: When you won the first place on Music Bank was there any special occasion?
Chorong: We had another schedule. It's a fansign, it was really good that we won the first place and we got to thank our fans in person that leave a deep impression. At the same time it was our magnae Hayoung's birthday and we congratulate her with a cake. We won first place, but because we always have another schedule we can't enjoy (the feeling of winning) fully.

Q: You are carrying the name of Post S.E.S and Fin.K.L. Did you meet S.E.S or Fin.K.L in real life?
Naeun: I met Fin.K.L's Lee Jin sunbaenim when we were shooting for a drama. At that time we have a scene together so we talked to each other a lot.
Chorong: I really like them but too bad I haven't had a chance to meet them in person. Truthfully, I want to introduce A Pink, give them our album, greet them and get their signs. Last time when Lee Hyori sunbaenim was on Music Back we prepared an album for her but because she had another schedule she went earlier than we expected. The album is still in the company right now.
Eunji: At the musical award I met Ok Juhyun sunbaenim, she is really cool.
Bomi: I've never met S.E.S sunbaenim. When Bada sunbaenim was on Immortal Song I watched that episode, she was really cool. I want to meet her.

Q: Jung Eunji and Son Naeun showed so many good images from drama. In particular, your drama "Childless Comfort" writer Kim Soohyun, he was quite suprised. What's your casting background?
Naeun: At the audition, I talked to the director and he asked me, "You are a singer? Let's see your dance." So I danced to our song "Hush". I was suprised that I got casted.
Chorong: I heard that the writer and directore are really strict. But they accepted Naeun prettily like that. I heard she worked really heard (at the filming). She's as nice and bright as the character "Oh Sumi" from the drama.

Q: You learnt a lot from the superior director and actors.
Naeun: In the midst of filming we will do a script reading. So I learnt from the director and writer, from the songsaengnim* too.

Q: Eunji too through SBS The Wind Blows, you did a drama with outstanding actors.
Eunji: I became a coward filiming with naturally good actors. I'm worried that the songsaengnim* will demand me to do my best. Also because Reply 1997 did so well, I'm worried that for my next work I feel the burdened that people will expect me to do better, there were big pressure too because I have to use the standard language. At first the director is considered of me, worried maybe he should have just let my character talk with a satoori, The scenes feel like tests to me. I'm not a discouraged kind of person usually it made people around me concerned about me. So the director always give encouragements that I do well and I practiced even harder.

Q: What differences do you feel when you sing and when you act?
Eunji: I think that singing is an extension from acting. I pretended that it's my story when it's not and we have to act through the feeling. But the feedbacks are different. On the stage once I made a eye-contact with the audience the feelings can be delivered but for drama after we are done filming we have to wait for the viewer responses. The differences are fascinating.

Q: How do you fix your satoori?
Eunji: I fixed between death of life (so hard). At that time I also did a musical "Legally Blonde", I have to act as a LA girl. If a LA girl suddenly speaking in a satoori then you're not a LA girl but a country girl. (laughs) So to not let it go wasted for the people who went and pay for the performance I practiced really hard. There was a time where I stayed still and didn't speak I was nervous. It's not easy to differentiate if I talk using satoori or not (because I was really nervous).

Q: To the people who have satoori do you have any tips?
Eunji: Hmm not sure. (laughs) I think just adjust it (keep on practicing). Sometimes my satoori is still showing too.

Q: Now the other members are going to shine with their own individual activites. Especially Bomi who recently showed a great strength on Weekly Idol. How was it?
Bomi: Actually being an entertainer is scary. But people around me always give me encouragement that I have to continue showing my charm. I don't have confidence but Donghyun and Defconn sunbaenim always tell me things. And doing it together with BTOB's Ilhoon is comfortable because I've known him since trainee. Now the burden is reduced and I'm enjoying it.

Q: Do you have any individual activities that you wanted to do?
Chorong: The company also asked us about it, we also talked a lot about it. We rather than saying we wanted to this we have a thought that every chances that come to us we have to work hard on it. Rather than wanting to fulfill our greeds we wanted to focus more on our activities. On July our album came out, it was a bit late. But I want to release one more album this year.

Q: With what kind of heart do you want to prepare your next album?
Chorong: We always prepare our album with the same kind of heart. Because NoNoNo got such a good response we wanted to show a better song and performances. We are worrying about how we show it and what kind of image we should show.

Q: Do you put a lot of effort for the concept and expression because you're the fairy-dol?
Chorong: Yes we do. (laughs) Not everyone have aegyo, even our expressions are awkward. ever since our debut song we have to use pure expression but none of us actually know how to make it so we were kind of worried. We keep on practicing while looking at the mirror. Because we're embarassed we will practice it alone. I think everyone do it comfortably now.
Bomi: Especially when we hit the high note we still have to control our expression. If we have a strong image we can just frown while singing but we have to smile till the end so it's hard.

Q: That's right. Especially Eunji, she always smile whenever she hits the high note I even thought that she do lipsync.
Bomi: Right, Eunji is fascinating.
Chorong: Smiling in front of the camera is really hard. It's awkward to smile in front of people, also dancing and singing while smiling and looking at the camera smiling is hard. Even though Hush is not a cute song because we wanted to show our colour we still put our effort into smiling.

Q: Also Hush does not have a fairy concept like NoNoNo or My My
Eunji: At that time we tried to change. We wanted a matured concept.
Chorong: Not entirely a strong sexy song. But the fans think that it doesn't match well with A Pink. And the more we think about it we think it's right, so we continued the promotion with BuBiBu.

Q: It's been 3 years since your debut. When you debuted and now is there any differences?
Chorong: We're more relaxed now. We used to be so awkward when we're in front of the camera, wearing skirts and dancing. But now we don't think abou those and focus on our singing more. We can say that we're more relaxed now.

Q: Did you gain confidence?
Chorong: Of course because of our professionalism we have confidence. Usually before we go to the stage we will shout, "We can do it, fighting!" even if it's noisy and we can't hear properly we will shout fighting to each other.
Hayoung: Chorong unnie usually will call me and shout, "I get it, fighting!" to me.

Q: Your resolution.
Bomi: With NoNoNo we received so many love, but it will be good if people know A Pink more. Now that we will continue doing individual activities, please continue looking forward to it.
Eunji: In the future we won't take away A Pink's bright image and we'll try to have so many changes. Please look forward to our changes.
