As I've said before at H8, When it comes to rap, I look for lyrical content. I've never been able to actually listen to rap that isn't in English since I am lost as to what they're saying. While I do listen to music in other languages, it's mostly for beats and emotion. Plus I can easily find a translation. I live in a city where the Asian community is mostly Southeast Asian. I agree that rap is about more than lyrical content, but I need to know what's being said to match all the other things to it. For example, a rapper can be getting extremely hype and at the same time meaningful in a few bars that he spits.
