thefacts 338 Posted January 20, 2017 Share Posted January 20, 2017 "The comedian Steve Harvey apologized on Tuesday for mocking Asian men on his TV show this month, days after saying in the lobby of Trump Tower that the criticism of him over the joke was “for no reason.†In a concise statement posted on Twitter, Mr. Harvey said, “I offer my humblest apology for offending anyone, particularly those in the Asian community, last week. It was not my intention and the humor was not meant with any malice or disrespect whatsoever.†The backlash after the segment, in which Mr. Harvey questioned whether Asian men were attractive to women outside of their race, was swift and furious, especially on social media, where Mr. Harvey’s own physical appearance was mocked. It prompted an Op-Ed in The New York Times by Eddie Huang, the chef, television host and author of “Fresh Off the Boat,†which inspired a sitcom on ABC. Asian-American elected officials in New York wrote a letter to Mr. Harvey, saying that his comments were “offensive†and “classless.†For his part, Mr. Harvey revived the bubbling controversy when he brought it up unprompted last week after meeting with President-elect Donald J. Trump. “I ain’t been laughing that much over the past few days,†Mr. Harvey said. “They’re kinda beating me up on the internet right now for no reason. Racism against asian americans is a real thing but hyperfocusing on how girls don't want to fuck you as being the issue of most importance to address makes me not want to take you seriously. It's like, 'Man, we have higher rates of poverty and are effected by xenophobia and unfair policies such as university quotas...but first, let me talk about how big my penis really is and how all those jokes about it are lies!'. Especially when those kind of guys also go around calling asian american girls 'traitors to their race' for dating or marrying someone of a different race. If someone ever made a joke about a black person in front of him he'd be so angry but sure he can use asians as jokes. I don't know if you're serious but..... the problem is a lot bigger than just "girls not wanting to fuck" Asian guys. Asian men in the West are pretty much being emasculated by every race outside of their own and not to mention the media. The effects of that extend far beyond their sex life. Even in the same video that got him into this scandal, he was stereotyping,mocking, and making digorty remarks about Black women. Too bad nobody cares about that. Feeling emasculated or excluded is a serious problem. It's hard to feel proud of yourself when you're constantly being told that you are somehow "less attractive" or "less of a man" in the media 24/7. Finding a significant other is most people's major concern in their lives. Constantly having to deal with rejection and loneliness because the media portrays you as undesirable is something to be upset about.And while each person is entitled to their own choices of partner, it'd be upsetting or even women of your own ethnicity, who are probably their main target as people tend to date within it, showed a trend of NOT wanting to get with you.
