Cool but fun group of phenomenal vocalist's, who can also surprisingly turn up on the dance-floor.
Less mianstream and more R&B and jazzy vocal prowess songs. 100% girl crush material.

Blackpink - M.O 

 

One of the few GG's to debut with a subtle sexy yet strong image. Fierce stage look but total cinnamon rolls.

Hip Hop and R&B image and sound.

 

 

CLC - The Saturdays

 

Successful debuts but lack of better singles and promos for comebacks thereafter led to both groups being buried by the competition. Had an image change and came back with a fiercer look and sound. Filled with unexpected charm and vocal talent.

 

 

 

Red Velvet - G.R.L (Original Lineup)

A group of visual (slayage), both are a strong combination of dance and singing ability with a bright and colorful sense of style. Known as the "baby" version of their senior groups (RV to f(x) and G.R.L to PCD). 

 

 

AOA - Fifth Harmony

Crazy how much they changed since debut, right? Went from girls next door to vixenettes. Even though the live stages are hit or miss, you'd be surprised at how well the vocalist of AOA + 4H could sing were they given the chance too. Great albums but their rise to fame seems to be hindered by the countless scandals they find themselves in.

 

 

 

 

EXID - Good Girl

 

GG is more debut EXID in sound, but current EXID in style. Both are producer made groups led by a leader with a phenomenal voice. Good Girl however, is still waiting on that Hani fancam moment.

 

 

 

These are the just the GG's I know of (in the USA and UK). Do you agree with my list or do you think the correlations are off? Whose the TWICE of the West? I was thinking maybe FH??

They went on hiatus and i'm not sure if it's a KARA hiatus (they disbanded but don't want to just come out and say it) or an After school hiatus (company decided it's best to fuck up their career even more than usual).

 

I swear if they make a comeback with a lineup change.. uggh...

Good Girl is also American. The term "Western world" can mean a number of different things, but generally it refers to countries in Europe and North America. 

 

Except for the hip hop group era in the United States (TLC, Destiny's Child then mid 2000's PCD), most well known girl groups have been from Europe. When it comes to boy bands however, America has had the most globally successful. 

 

East Asia's on the rise though, in the past decade, while groups have dissolved in the West, they've grown in EA, so in a few years, we can expect some J and K pop groups being the best selling girl groups.

The most distinguishing thing about those 2 is that Hello Venus and Stellar did a complete 180 in terms of concept and style but 5H, gradually got sexier as the girls got older and has only ever been completely racy in one music video (cue all in my head). I still consider a vocally talented group though their dancing is... well below that of AOA.

 

I still see alot of similarities between the two than any other active group.
