So according to this journalist, 2ne1 already give so much impact for kpop/korean culture, including music style and fashion.

one interesting paragraph say:

"It is perhaps easy to dismiss K-pop bands like 2NE1, but they have helped to spread the influence of K-pop into other countries and across the world. Without bands like 2NE1, bands like Japanese outfit BabyMetal wouldn’t exist, much less playing the main stage of major music festivals and supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers on tour."

do you agree that Babymetal owe that much to 2ne1??? or this is just nonsense article??? :donthinkso:

Jrock was a thing in america before kpop a little research would have told this guy that the epic jrock revolution concert was 2007 meanwhile Kcon started in 2012 and before jrock revolution Dir en grey was touring with korn on their family values tour in 2006 and D'espairsRay were getting real popular as well as mucc when they were on the taste of chaos tour all these bands combined is who babymetal has to thank for their success in america not 2ne1

LOL! This is simply bad journalism. 2NE1 and Babymetal cater to vastly different demographics. If anything, it's Perfume that inspired Koba to create Babymetal (he said this) plus all those Japanese Rock and Metal bands before them that paved the path for their success in the west. They also have a SOLID team in the west backing them.

Like 2NE1, anime had nothing to do with BABYMETAL. It's thanks to other J-rock/metal bands paving the way and priming the scene for them, not anime or 2NE1.

I saw it as the public started knowing more of anime which opened up thier views on Japanese culture. Since the public isn't big on metal rock right now. But I get what you mean my brother like rock/metal and he knows a lot of jrock/metal from the concerts he goes to, sometimes there are jrock bands performing and then he found about baby metal.

It's not the public that's noticed them, though; but, rather the rock scene that has. It's the J-rock/metal that is to count for BabyMetal's success, not anime. Babymetal have nothing to do with anime. They're big in the western rock/metal scene now because of their appearances in rock fests and the like.
