Which Korean cosmetic brands do you recommend?

I want to buy some skin care products but I'm still not sure about the brand.

Most people recommend Laneige, Etude House, Nature Republic, Skinfood, Innisfree, TheFaceShop and Clio but I don't know which one to pick.

I took this quiz and I got this results (they are pretty accurate to be honest):

Normal dehydrated skin

  • Produces oil in the summer, mostly in t-zone
  • Skin can feel tight or dry during the winter
  • Needs hydration without heavy oils or pore-clogging ingredients
  • May have enlarged pores mostly in t-zone, including blackheads
  • May have hyperpigmentation (brown spots)
  • Skin may look tired, in need of a glow
  • Wants to keep skin healthy and smooth
  • Concerned about aging and loss of tone
So have y'all tried these brands? Which one do y'all recommend? I heard some brands make your skin get oily or drier :S

And please don't recommend by the sake of promoting your oppa/unnie endorsement lmao

I have laniege, it's pretty good if you have normal skin to dry skin. But its a bit pricey.

I have combination skin; normal to oily skin. Innisfree is okay. Nature's Republic breaks me the fuck out. Faceshop also gave me pimples.

Edit-I've tried ALOT of things.

I use Whamisa, Mamonde, Mizon, Missha, and Hera products. I love all of them.

The Orchid line from Innisfree is also really nice.

The reason why skin produces oil is because it needs to be hydrated so oily people are dehydrated a lot of the time actually.

I will recommend this tone it's great for dry skin.. mamonde rose water toner. Also I use this C vitamin spray by Innisfree sometimes if I feel dry on my last step of skin care. Your skin sounds quite similar to mine. My blackheads are slowly going away now and I dont keep up w/ my routine as much as I should.

atm I use

The Face Shop Charcoal Foam

Mamonde Rose Water Toner

Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid (this one is more for a daytime but I always use it regardless)

I used to use this C Serum too but my dad moved it idk where it is..

SkinFood Cucumber Emulsion

Sheet Mask (I have so mannnny)

and then I use Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream (I just got this a not long ago) or I will use Mizon Snail Gel Cream (I think that's what it's called.. very light cream.)

So far my blackheads are finally starting to get a little UNSTUBBORN. But yea I really recommend that toner it's so great and your face feel so moisturized as soon as you put it on .

Oh yes.. I also use one of the egg gel skin peels like twice or 3 time a week.

I recommend looking through the Asian Beauty subreddit and finding users with similar skin concerns as yours as each brands' products will work differently for everyone. I like Innisfree though, but many of their cleansers have a high pH level which can dry your skin out and give your face a tight feeling when washing.

Yeah I have combiantion skin too and I heard Nature Republic tends to break out :/ That's why I'm a bit weary of buying their stuff.

So far I've been adding a lot of Laneige, TheFaceShop and Innisfree products to my cart :S

i would recommend not sticking to one brand, because some products are better than others in different brands

i would recommend scinic, they have these all-in-one products that help with hydrating as well as soothing the skin

i also use mizon products a lot

Yeah, that's what I was planning on doing, It's so tiring tho, having to figure out if I need cleansing oil or cleansing milk. Or what type of serum should I use... :C

Cosrx is good if you have sensitive skin

I see everyone is recommending Corsx... are they available on Amazon? or Kpoptown?

:O The more you know

Mizon and Cosrx are good staples.

If you're looking to build a routine, you can check out the AB reddit or Fiddy's beginner list sorted by skin type, they're really useful!

Or look at r/AB's HGs from last spring, though your routine can depend on the climate.

Thank you! Those were very helpful. I guess Mizon and Corsx are good since everyone is recommending them~

I was wondering about sheet masks too!! Which ones do you use?? :O

Ohhhh oki :D Thank you~

In general, Innisfree, Laneige and Skinfood are pretty good from your list. I'm personally not a big fan of Etude House skincare. I also like Mizon. Apparently Cosrx is good but I'm still in the process of testing some of their products.

I guess I'll stick to those products :P

I have a lot of sheet masks. I have ordered them in bulk so I have enough for like 2 months rn. Random masks from Skin Food, TonyMoly, Innisfree and The Face Shop, etc. I usually get w/e is the cheapest brand LMAO.. I have mostly Rice masks rn. I've been using green tea ones and they are quite good. I feel like sheet masks are the most situational and you can't get a feel on whats "best" for you unless you try and bunch of diff ones.

Also another mask thats good (non-sheet) is the Skin Food Black Sugar mask. It's quite harsh but I use it in the shower maybe once a week. If you use it outside the shower you should put on toner before you use it. It makes my skin very soft tho. Might not be the best for sensitive skin (it will cause redness after you wash it off, so anything soothing is good to use after it).

you should use 2 cleansers: one to take off your makeup and sunscreen, and one to finish cleansing your skin of oils

the first one is usually cleansing oil. i use the kose softymo speedy cleansing oil

the second one is foaming or milk. right now i'm using the glossier jelly cleanser but my fave foaming cleanser is hada labo gokujyun cleanser

for serum, it kind of just depends on your needs. do you want to hydrate? do you want to smooth your skin? do you want to get rid of acne? for me, my main problem is i need moisture. so, i use serums with lots of moisturizing ingredients

Seconding the Hada Labo Gokujyun Cleanser!

@ OP: For sheet masks, I've tried Innisfree, Tonymoly, Naruko, Lovemore, and My Beauty Diary, and MBD's Black Pearl one works really well for me!

If it's your first haul, I'd recommend getting oil cleanser + second cleanser + moisturizer + sunscreen + maybe a few sheet masks.

Slapping on too many products at once may overwhelm your skin, so just test around before building a routine! Wishing you the best of luck!

I recommend you COSRX if you have troubled and sensitive skin.

I only use AHA/BHA clarifying toner and snail mucin essence also various sheet masks (I bought different brands but mostly bought innisfree). those COSRX products made my skin get better *tho my large pores are still visible*

you can purchased them at wishtrend

Some of the products I use are:

clinique take the day off cleansing balm (i think the korean equivalent is the clean it zero, i've seen its cheaper than clinique)

innisfree jeju volcanic pore cleansing foam - best cleansing foam i've ever used

beauty water

missha time revolution the first treatment essence

missha time revolution night repair

+just the simple olay moisturizer for day and night

but by far the best thing i've ever bought is the skinfood black sugar mask, I probably had skin this soft before hitting puberty tbh

p.s. i've only started using korean skincare less than 6 months ago but i'm already happy with these ones.
