So I bought awaking the beginning of the year

 

At first it was meh but then I finished the game....went online and found out about the children

 

Now I'm on my eighth play through and pre ordered fates weeks ago

Haven't played fe since sacred stones but awakening got me hooked

Welcome (back) to the fandom! Like you, I'm very glad they're bringing back the children feature from Fates. Idk how they'll keep justifying it via the strange plots but I want it to become a permanent mainstay of the franchise.

They should have the main cast jump into the future next game....

 

This is a brilliant idea. It would also get us more hyped for the future next game since we would be more attached to the characters. Go pitch it to Intelligent Systems before they steal your idea without compensation.

 

Has there been a poll on everyone's first FE game? I've played all of them since the first US released one with Lyn, Hector, and Eliwood (although I've also played Binding Blade because a fan translation patch was done). So I guess when I see that Awakening is the most popular game by far, I wonder if it's because it's the most recent one and maybe the only one some people have played. 

 

I'm just curious, not trying to say Awakening was bad.

 

Blazing Sword was also my first game too! And it's still my favorite due to the exceptionally strong plot and subplots.

 

Awakening sold 2 million copies - a record high for the series - because of the extremely good reviews and word of mouth. Before Awakening, the sales of the Wii and DS games were pretty low so the franchise was about to get cancelled. So even if Awakening isn't the best game in the series, we should be grateful that it reinvigorated the franchise and expanded the fanbase - which is why FE is much more mainstream today than it was 5 or 10 years ago.

Finally got my game and I'm about halfway through Conquest. LOVING IT! The variety of maps and mission objectives make Awakening seem like trash in comparison.

I was wondering, how do I visit other castles? And how can other people visit my castles? Do I need to add them as friends first? I don't want to fight, I just want visits.

no if you are in your castle you can see in the bottom of your screen an icon thats like a card click it

 

that its your presentation card in it there is a part that says castle address or some stuff like that, you can give people that so that they can visit your castle, also updating your castle can help as when people go to recently updated castles your castle might pop up for them

Got my SE of Fates over the weekend and I can't put it down. I'm playing hoshido and so far and the characters are really unique. I'm surprised just how different everything is/feels from awakening.

Arthur and Effie. I've been waiting months to stan Charlotte but she is absolute shit (literally can't even land a single hit) so I can't waifu dat. Nyx is also trash but I've already paired her up with Odin so there's no going back.

lmao Niles' dialogue in Conquest is even more perverted. Pretty much every line of his has a double, dirty meaning.

Pent is one of the greatest units in general OF ALL TIME

 

You should use Charlotte as support because she grants her S-rank partner like 8 strength and 6 speed which is ridiculous.

 

Odin is garbage too so at least him and Nyx can suck together. The default mages in this game are awful. Orochi is the most acceptable but she's so slow you just gotta hope she can one hit nuke. And Hayato had 13 mag after promotion which says all there is to say abou him.

 

I was thinking I might use Charlotte to support Xander once I get him. I just wanted more stand-alone good units like Effie but I guess I won't be getting much more of those.

Mage units might start out bad but if you're really patient with them they hella slay. Odin starts out the best and is the most stable, but (at least for me) Nyx is the most powerful (which only happened after I promoted her class), and Ophelia surpasses Odin a bit. Camilla and Leo are surprisingly not as strong with magic as I'd thought (my Nyx is a stronger mage than them and she's not even close to their stats yet). But they can still easily take out an enemy.

Conclusion: Mages kinda suck at first but totally worth the babying to leveling them up.

 

Also that sniffing complex Velouria has really weirds me out.

I gave up on coddling Nyx. She wasn't powerful and she died in 1 hit. I regret wasting time with her. But Odin was worth my time ever since he got Nosferatu to keep him alive.

Can someone introduced me to the games I should play before Fates? I've never played the others before but looking at fates. It just caught my eye any game I should play before it get release in Europe?

 

Awakening is the most straightforward and similar to Fates. It also has different options for difficulty to make it easier for your first time playing.
