Do you think Fire Emblem can be considered as a form of chess and benefits you as whole?

 

- rounds

 

- you control your figures

 

- it's called strategy game for a reason

 

Or do you think it doesn't?

 

- You can't level up your chess pieces for example (except the pawn maybe)

 

- anime stereotypes and poorly balanced gameplay = chess? wut

I really don't think FE is that deep as a chess LOL And I don't even use strategies.   I just go all out   And it doesn't affect my progressions

What is Fire Emblem

 

Fire Emblem is a strategy RPG franchise that was created by the mind of Shouzou Kaga and the developers at Intelligent Systems. In 1988, there once was a game called Famicom Wars — a game that happened to be a Japanese exclusive game for the Famicom. Famicom Wars, which was a tactical turned based military game, provided one of the basics for the first game of the series, Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi (Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light). The turn based strategy features — from units, to maps, to who you’re facing, to conquering the enemy’s headquarters, to having to kill all of the enemies, to phases, and to units with specialized abilities  — are exactly what you see in every Fire Emblem game. The differences? Fire Emblem plays like an RPG. You’re not going to get any no-name units — instead, you’ll get a character with a name, a backstory, their abilities, and use them in your quest to beat the game. You’ll get extended cutscenes, lots of dialogue between the characters, have your characters level up, and use weapons like swords, axes, lances, tomes, and bows. That’s also another difference, and of course, the defining trait of Fire Emblem: it’s setting.

Throughout Fire Emblem’s history the story has always been set in medieval times, meaning outdated politics and/or clothing from the lost ages make an appearance through each of the games in the series. Betrayal, lost love, deaths, pettiness, and mythical beings are all featured in one series or another. It started with the Prince of Altea, Marth, who had to flee to his own Kingdom while having to deal with the loss of his people; and is carried from then to even today’s hero, the Prince of Ylisse, Chrom, who had to overcome his own personal tragedy before liberating the world. And throughout the series, even the most minor characters have their own personal struggles they have to deal with and overcome as they help the main lord with their quest to save the world.

Awakening is my first FE game, but I am obsessed with it   I don't know any of the older characters because of that.

 

I honestly like all the characters from Awakening. Don't really have a favorite.

it was my 4th FE game, I would recommend you path of radiance and radiant down I love those since they were my first.

 

My favorite Awakening characters are

Radiant Dawn doesn't really suck I liked the story, I really hope there is a 3rd part however RD is extremely hard specially the last chapters man those were hard I rememer

I haven't had everyone interact either, I mainly base my pairing off looks or the tinibits of personality and then make them support each other

 

like tharja & lonqu the guy that hates girls and the vicious girl such a pairing lol, chrom&olivia was more for the looks I just love Olivia shyness so I though chrom would be a nice pairing, avatar and the 3 girls I said was manly because they are my favs lol,yarne and lucina is more because lucina is  bad ass with a delicate body meanwhile yarne is a beast that is afraid of everything, inigo and gerome was just luck that I ended up liking them I wanted another strong chacters in my party so I used gerome since both his parent were super strong in my playthrough so he was too since he was their child and picked inigo as his support because I liked inigo and had him in my play through but their supports were hilarious manhandling lol

yeah in my second playthrough I did marry people for abilities like all my 2nd gen got gale-force at least the ones that can get it, and the other I just gave them op powers like luna,astra,,etc

I'm on my second playthrough, and since I just fumbled through it the first time while unknowingly killing almost all of the second generation, I'm replaying it to make sure I get everyone.

 

I'm not that good with strategies in this game (I'm lazy), so I'm just playing with couples I put together for fun. :3

I killed off Tharja in the first run, so I haven't gotten to know her yet. Same with Tiki, who I hear is funny. :D
