Oboro looks female too me, she also looks a bit drunk lol

Oh shoot at that red-haired rider being a boy! I'm normally so good at picking up on that in anime stuff, like, I knew Lucina was a girl when I saw her disguised. And lol, I thought he was the most attractive girl in the game so far lol.

Also, I glanced really quick at that cosplay pic at first and thought that the Tharja cosplayer was Sunye lol

EDIT: Oh wait, just read the review lol you were talking about someone else

I thought you meant her:

unyxbipj3vsbqaelwfe0.png

Oops, sorry for not making myself clear. The red haired Pegasus rider you thought I was talking about is Hinoka, one of the two princesses of Hoshido. Although now that you mention it, Hinoka looks more masculine than the actual male Pegasus rider.

FE scans from the latest Famitsu including new characters, classes, and skills!

http://imgur.com/a/uOT5r

A translated report from SerenesForest:

fami2705l-1-300x92.png

Left: Trueblade. Right: Weapon Master.

To start with, Famitsu introduces the game’s Class Change mechanics, which are similar to in Awakening. Characters in a basic (unpromoted) class can use a Master Seal when they’re Level 10 or higher to promote into one of two advanced (promoted) classes.

The example given is Hinata, a sword-wielding Samurai (a renamed Myrmidon), promoting into the Trueblade (a renamed Swordmaster, which has superior speed and adept at landing multiple hits) or Weapon Master (a new foot-based class that wields Swords, Lances and Axes).

Like in previous games, promoting resets the character’s Level to 1, so they can continue to gain experience in their promoted class. However, new to this game is the Parallel Seal item, which we saw in Joker’s hands in the full Famitsu interview.

fami2705l-2-300x225.png

Presumably, other characters can become Maids too…

As suspected, the Parallel Seal acts like Awakening’s Second Seal, allowing characters to swap to an alternative class–the selection of classes determined by the character themselves.

But unlike the Second Seal, Parallel Seals do not reset a character’s Level and characters can only swap between classes from their “tierâ€; in other words, they cannot change from a promoted class down to an unpromoted class or vice versa.

Another example we’re given is Felicia using a Parallel Seal to swap from Maid to Brave Hero, Bow Knight or Strategist. This implies she has access to the Mercenary (-> Brave Hero/Bow Knight) and Rod Knight (-> Strategist/Maid) class branches.

fami2705l-3-300x201.png

Harold is already gaining a following, it seems.

Next, the characters, starting from the left side and going from top to bottom:

Cyrus (Cavalier) [Hoshido/Nohr]

A fledgling Nohrian knight. Has known the Avatar since childhood; an ally in both campaigns.

Elfie (Knight) [Nohr]

A knight who serves Nohr’s princess Elise. Contrary to her appearance, she possesses amazing strength. Never misses training.

Harold (Fighter) [Nohr]
Elise’s subordinate. He fights with the belief that he’s a hero of justice; his one flaw is his exceptionally bad luck.

Hinata (Samurai) [Hoshido]

Hails from a family of samurais who have served Hoshido for generations. Hinata himself(?) serves under Takumi. Quick to quarrel, but thoughtful of his friends.

Oboro (Lancer) [Hoshido]

Takumi’s subordinate, who harbours a small crush for her(?) liege (Takumi). Because of her past experience, she possesses a stronger hatred for Nohr than most people.

Rinka (Oni) [Hoshido]

A fighter born into the “Fire Clanâ€. Following her father–the chieftain’s orders, she fights to support Hoshido in their battle against Nohr.

Tsukuyomi (Spellcaster) [Hoshido]

Unlike Rinka, he was born into the “Wind Clanâ€. Despite his young age, a talented spellcaster. Hates dark places.

fami2705l-4-300x166.png

Get ready to grind for skills again!

In between the character profiles are details on the game’s new skills.

Just like in Awakening, characters can learn new skills as they Level Up in their various classes. Players can freely select 5 skills for each character, from all the skills that character has learned.

In the above screenshot, Kazahana has Flowing Strike, Vantage and Strength Seal equipped and a fourth skill in her skill bank. The fourth skill, whose name is too blurry to read but might be “Deathmatchâ€, boosts the unit’s damage by 10, but also their damage received by 10. Talk about risky!

As well as class skills, characters have a personal “fixed†skill, which is independent of their class skills and cannot be removed. This is the first skill in a character’s list–the one in the top-left corner that is bigger than the rest.

Here’s a list of the advertised personal skills:

Mysterious Charisma [Avatar]

When acting as the support (back unit), if the front unit has a C or higher support, the front unit’s Accuracy is boosted by 10, damage by 2 and damage received reduced by 2.

Desperate Struggle [Hinata]

When at half HP or lower, damage received by swords, lances and axes is halved.

Superpower [Elfie]

When the user’s Strength is 5 or more points higher than the enemy’s, damage increases by 3.

Nohr-hater [Oboro]

When engaging a Nohr-related enemy, damage increases by 3

Unlucky Soul [Harold]

Enemies within a 2 tile radius have their Critical Evade reduced by 15, while the user’s Critical Evade is reduced by 5

Arrogance [Tsukuyomi]

When unit’s Level is lower than the enemy’s (promoted units count as Level +20), damage increases by 4

fami2705l-5-300x82.png

Substitute flips the position of two adjacent units on the map.

Lastly, some brief examples of class skills.

Defence Seal [Lancer Class]
After attacking an enemy, the enemy’s Defence is reduced by 6.

Substitute [Lancer Class]
On the map, the user can select an adjacent target to “substituteâ€. This makes the user and the target swap positions on the map, which would be useful for keeping wounded allies out of harm’s way.

me@ all this exclusive hoshido characters

TiLaDQp.gif

like wtf so far most of the nohr character are nohr/hoshido

yet thus far hoshido has like 7 exclusive characters and nohr only 2 elfie and harold

elfie and hinata though  :rlytearpls:  i want them both

lol I noticed that too! I think they're really trying to promote the Hoshido version - even though Nohr is selling less preorders so it needs more promotion - because Hoshido is meant to duplicate the wildly popular Awakening so it's more accessible to the average casual gamer. I hope both versions have an equal amount of characters and they're just not showing us the Nohr exclusive characters for some reason.

Could be due to the nature of the Nohr storyline that character reveals might spoil a bit more than Hoshido ones do.

OPPA I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE INTO FIRE EMBLEM WHY HAVE YOU KEPT IT A SECRET  :ilove:

But yes, your explanation would make sense. I really hope the Nohr storyline is as complex and captivating as I'm expecting it to be. More FE7, less FE13.

Mostly because I didn't have much to add since you're updating so well.

Plus I only got back into the series with Awakening after not playing any since Sacred Stones.

I want to go back and play the ones I missed but god damn I'm not made of money.

Aww shucks, you flatter me.

Welcome back to the series! From the games you missed, only the Tellius games are worth playing tbqh. Shadow Dragon, the Nintendo DS remake of the first game in the series, was a chore to get through for me and most fans I've come across seem to agree. To boot, it was an eyesore which is rare for a FE game.

Your best bet is an emulator but I hear GameCube & Wii ones can be pretty clunky.

Thanks to the kind-hearted Kantopia, we now have translations of the latest Famitsu issue with all the new info!

Oboro is confirmed to be a girl. I can see why Harold is a Nohr exclusive. He seems like the smug type. lol People are comparing him to

The official Fire Emblem: if website has been updated. There's a lot of new info, art (including a new character on the Nohr side), and screencaps so I advise you all to check it out: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/bfwj/index.html

FE: if was featured in today's Japanese Nintendo Direct. No English captions yet but here's the video.

The information shown in the Direct is discussed in greater detail in this video about the "My Castle" feature

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oO7b-oWl2g

TL;DR: The game - or at least the Hoshido version - will have a hub for the player where they can fight other players, customize their own castle, buy equipment, cook (lol?), build relationships through a Pokemon-Amie-like feature and a spa, train against enemies, and even protect against invasions from the Nohr side!

I love that they've added so many cool new features even if I'm not too crazy about some of them like the Amie face rubbing. The protection against Nohr invasions and the customization of your castle will be a ton of fun. I just wish the Nohr version of the game gets some of these features.

It seems that having a Fire Emblem amiibo adds them to your game to fight against. Maybe you can recruit them after you've beaten them?

SUMMARY: http://serenesforest.net/2015/05/31/fire-emblem-nintendo-direct-31st-may-castle-amiibos/

FEAmie face rubbing thing weirds me the hell out lol

Her design:

8sfU0ed.jpg

I....uh....LOL

lol, I laugh at her now, but I'm probably gonna really like her, but really, I don't like how stupid her armour looks but I like how she and Rinka look to have abs and muscles =}

Also, this new character looks ALOT like Severa!

K0qAKca.png

I love that new blonde character. Her design fits in with personality of tricking men into thinking she's frail in order to trap & defeat them. Another reason she reminds me of X-Men's Emma Frost.

And the Severa similarity appears intentional given Severa's huge popularity in Japan, Severa's Japanese character name being based on the sun goddess while this character Luna is based on the moon, and Luna saying something in the videos like "I think I've seen you before"

My Robin and Lucina amiibos arrived safe and sound. Can't wait to use them in "if"

Btw, I could be wrong but I've seen many people say the features revealed yesterday are for BOTH versions of the game, not just Hoshido like I originally claimed. Yay Nohr~

Just got through the new stuff, the castle system is a logical and welcome step in the series and even though some of it is a bit creepy, increased relationship options was kind of inevitable after Awakening.

Also I am all for being able to dress up your characters.

ZKjJb4H.jpg

Got a feeling I'll be playing If (once it comes over here) for half a year.

Same. All of the new features will help add a ton of replayability. But I'm still waiting for a marriage mechanic to be confirmed because unlocking all of the S-support conversations was one of the best parts of Awakening that made replaying it more enjoyable.

Fire Emblem if is currently at the top of Famitsu's Most Wanted Games List. Considering the list is usually PS-dominated, that's impressive!

cr: @fireemblembuzz

Yeah they are for both, i thought that was obvi since some Nohr allies appeared in the my castle thing

Good point, I'm just slow.

Interestingly, it only says you can talk to or fight the Amiibo characters. Does this mean we can't recruit them?

Translations of new character profiles thanks to Kantopia:

https://kantopia.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/fire-emblem-if-famitsu-character-profile-leaks-translated-64/

The "fox spirit" class seems interesting. I wonder if it's related to the Taguels from Awakening or the Laguz from the Tellius games. I'm so glad they came up with new skills instead of just using all the same skills over again.

Great news, Kantopia confirmed you CAN recruit the amiibo characters after defeating them. Now I just need to get a hold of Marth and Ike somehow :<

The innate skills are great, a lot of flavour and tactics in there.

Exactly. A lot of people are complaining that this game has removed some strategy elements but I think it will still be strategic, just a different new kind of strategy we haven't seen before. I'm stoked af. Edited by stormbreaker

According to several different sources, the Pokemon-Amie-like feature of face-rubbing characters to build up support levels has been removed.

http://nintendoeverything.com/fire-emblem-fates-removes-petting-mini-game-in-the-west/

I don't understand the reason for this. If people didn't want to use the feature, they could have chosen not to use it. Why remove it entirely?
