You're right. According to the translated article, butlers and maids can use both staffs to heal and concealed weapons to attack.

yeah and damn the amount of staff users on this game tbh

the two maids, the butler, sakura, elise

thats like 5 thought at this point its looking like butlers and maids are the better option since they can also attack

like why use a priestess that can only heal when you can use a maid that can both attack and heal

cipher-stream-04.jpg

yeah but those are theirs next class im assuming because in the pic where sakura's whole thing appear she only has a staff level D or E and no bow as weapon level

so im guessing that her next class

You can never have too many healers ;)

true and not true, it really just depends on the game. there are some fire emblem games where really you wont take much damage so healers are kind of a non entity so its hard to level them up

but im guessing in this game by the amount of healers you will need healing

More FE: if scans, this time from Dengeki Nintendo magazine and including more art & rules of how to play the FE: Cipher Trading Card Game.

The hype train just won't stop.

camilla is baepYPGQTk.jpg

the more i see it, the more i like sakura's design and im really liking that bow guy probably in my fav guys of if

Quotes from each character:

Sakura: "The citizens of this kingdom are all good people."

Hinoka: "Even if the situation is unfavourable, as Hoshido's princess, I'll show you how I can fight until the bitter end."

Takumi: "I'm arrogant...? That's because I don't trust either of the two of you."

Ryouma: "As your brother, I'm proud of you all. As long as you're here, nothing can scare me."

Camilla: "It's alright. As for everyone who dared to bother you, I'll kill them all."

Marx: "Your power shouldn't be used as something like this. Stand, gripping your sword, as a soldier of Nohr."

Leon: "Honestly... Your swordsmanship doesn't determine the entirety of your strength, brothers."

Elise: "I'll do my best with you, too. If I do, surely father will forgive us."

Aqua: "I am Aqua. I'm Nohr Kingdom's princess... or was, rather."

cr: sforzur

I love that we're already getting to see glimpses of their personalities. Based on Elise's quote, I think it's pretty much confirmed the Nohr campaign will have the characters going against their dad, the Nohr King, in order to reform the kingdom and make it better. LOL @ Takumi being so stand-offish.

Thanks for sharing. Aqua is so beautiful. I honestly did not expect she would be the princess of Nohr kidnapped by Hoshidol. I thought she would be a Hoshido princess that was kidnapped by Nohr. Nice surprise. I think she and Kamui will help to bring peace between the kingdoms regardless of which version you play.

A new sketch of the male and female Kamui (the customizable avatar characters in "if") by character designer Yusuke Kozaki. It's to celebrate that there's only 1 month left exactly until FE: if's release date in Japan.

Also, a new character revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu. I can't tell if it's a boy or a girl.

Newest info from the latest Famitsu interview with the "if" developers

  • The cutscenes will be from the first-person perspective of your avatar character Kamui.
  • Even in Phoenix mode, you can lose if you fail to meet victory conditions, such as reaching a destination within a certain number of turns.
  • Attack Stance and Guard Stance is the new version of Awakening’s Dual and Pair Up systems.
  • Attack Stance (where fighting adjacent to an ally allows for that ally to perform a follow-up attack) is fantastic for improving your damage output, but it doesn’t really help your units when enemies decide to gang up on them.
  • Guard Stance is where 2 allies combine into 1 and 1 of the allies can deflect enemy attacks. It's good for absorbing a lot of enemy attacks. Basically, players are encouraged to adopt different stances according to the given situation.
  • Javelins, hand axes, and other similar weapons (but not naturally ranged weapons like Tomes or Hidden Weapons) can no longer double attack. It's going to be even trickier to use Pegasus units now, especially since arrows are now effective against lances. lol
  • The red-haired Pegasus rider is confirmed to be a boy!
  • The classes available largely depend on the campaign chosen. So in Nohr, you will typically see more characters in familiar classes, like Cavaliers. While in Hoshido, most of the characters are in Japanese-themed classes, like Samurais.
  • The weapons you can obtain depend on the campaign too. For example, in Nohr, you will commonly obtain “swordsâ€, while in Hoshido you are more likely to find “katanasâ€, which have slightly different properties.
  • Hoshido is based on ancient Japanese culture, while Nohr is built on the series’s traditional Western fantasy setting. While Nohr is Western-themed, it also carries a dark atmosphere; its castle even stands in the middle of a giant hole in the ground. In terms of the setting, Hoshido is a pacifist kingdom with exceptional peace and order. In contrast, Nohr is subject to terrible weather conditions, leading to poor crop yields and a lack of law and order. In order to expand Nohr’s influence, King Garon orders his children to invade Hoshido.

Oh shoot at that red-haired rider being a boy! I'm normally so good at picking up on that in anime stuff, like, I knew Lucina was a girl when I saw her disguised. And lol, I thought he was the most attractive girl in the game so far lol.

Also, I glanced really quick at that cosplay pic at first and thought that the Tharja cosplayer was Sunye lol

EDIT: Oh wait, just read the review lol you were talking about someone else

I thought you meant her:

Oops, sorry for not making myself clear. The red haired Pegasus rider you thought I was talking about is Hinoka, one of the two princesses of Hoshido. Although now that you mention it, Hinoka looks more masculine than the actual male Pegasus rider.

FE scans from the latest Famitsu including new characters, classes, and skills!

http://imgur.com/a/uOT5r

A translated report from SerenesForest:

fami2705l-1-300x92.png

Left: Trueblade. Right: Weapon Master.

To start with, Famitsu introduces the game’s Class Change mechanics, which are similar to in Awakening. Characters in a basic (unpromoted) class can use a Master Seal when they’re Level 10 or higher to promote into one of two advanced (promoted) classes.

The example given is Hinata, a sword-wielding Samurai (a renamed Myrmidon), promoting into the Trueblade (a renamed Swordmaster, which has superior speed and adept at landing multiple hits) or Weapon Master (a new foot-based class that wields Swords, Lances and Axes).

Like in previous games, promoting resets the character’s Level to 1, so they can continue to gain experience in their promoted class. However, new to this game is the Parallel Seal item, which we saw in Joker’s hands in the full Famitsu interview.

fami2705l-2-300x225.png

Presumably, other characters can become Maids too…

As suspected, the Parallel Seal acts like Awakening’s Second Seal, allowing characters to swap to an alternative class–the selection of classes determined by the character themselves.

But unlike the Second Seal, Parallel Seals do not reset a character’s Level and characters can only swap between classes from their “tierâ€; in other words, they cannot change from a promoted class down to an unpromoted class or vice versa.

Another example we’re given is Felicia using a Parallel Seal to swap from Maid to Brave Hero, Bow Knight or Strategist. This implies she has access to the Mercenary (-> Brave Hero/Bow Knight) and Rod Knight (-> Strategist/Maid) class branches.

fami2705l-3-300x201.png

Harold is already gaining a following, it seems.

Next, the characters, starting from the left side and going from top to bottom:

Cyrus (Cavalier) [Hoshido/Nohr]

A fledgling Nohrian knight. Has known the Avatar since childhood; an ally in both campaigns.

Elfie (Knight) [Nohr]

A knight who serves Nohr’s princess Elise. Contrary to her appearance, she possesses amazing strength. Never misses training.

Harold (Fighter) [Nohr]
Elise’s subordinate. He fights with the belief that he’s a hero of justice; his one flaw is his exceptionally bad luck.

Hinata (Samurai) [Hoshido]

Hails from a family of samurais who have served Hoshido for generations. Hinata himself(?) serves under Takumi. Quick to quarrel, but thoughtful of his friends.

Oboro (Lancer) [Hoshido]

Takumi’s subordinate, who harbours a small crush for her(?) liege (Takumi). Because of her past experience, she possesses a stronger hatred for Nohr than most people.

Rinka (Oni) [Hoshido]

A fighter born into the “Fire Clanâ€. Following her father–the chieftain’s orders, she fights to support Hoshido in their battle against Nohr.

Tsukuyomi (Spellcaster) [Hoshido]

Unlike Rinka, he was born into the “Wind Clanâ€. Despite his young age, a talented spellcaster. Hates dark places.

fami2705l-4-300x166.png

Get ready to grind for skills again!

In between the character profiles are details on the game’s new skills.

Just like in Awakening, characters can learn new skills as they Level Up in their various classes. Players can freely select 5 skills for each character, from all the skills that character has learned.

In the above screenshot, Kazahana has Flowing Strike, Vantage and Strength Seal equipped and a fourth skill in her skill bank. The fourth skill, whose name is too blurry to read but might be “Deathmatchâ€, boosts the unit’s damage by 10, but also their damage received by 10. Talk about risky!

As well as class skills, characters have a personal “fixed†skill, which is independent of their class skills and cannot be removed. This is the first skill in a character’s list–the one in the top-left corner that is bigger than the rest.

Here’s a list of the advertised personal skills:

Mysterious Charisma [Avatar]

When acting as the support (back unit), if the front unit has a C or higher support, the front unit’s Accuracy is boosted by 10, damage by 2 and damage received reduced by 2.

Desperate Struggle [Hinata]

When at half HP or lower, damage received by swords, lances and axes is halved.

Superpower [Elfie]

When the user’s Strength is 5 or more points higher than the enemy’s, damage increases by 3.

Nohr-hater [Oboro]

When engaging a Nohr-related enemy, damage increases by 3

Unlucky Soul [Harold]

Enemies within a 2 tile radius have their Critical Evade reduced by 15, while the user’s Critical Evade is reduced by 5

Arrogance [Tsukuyomi]

When unit’s Level is lower than the enemy’s (promoted units count as Level +20), damage increases by 4

fami2705l-5-300x82.png

Substitute flips the position of two adjacent units on the map.

Lastly, some brief examples of class skills.

Defence Seal [Lancer Class]
After attacking an enemy, the enemy’s Defence is reduced by 6.

Substitute [Lancer Class]
On the map, the user can select an adjacent target to “substituteâ€. This makes the user and the target swap positions on the map, which would be useful for keeping wounded allies out of harm’s way.
