A single dad spent his final months finding the perfect foster family for his four-year-old son before he died.

Nick Rose, 40, died last week after a brave nine month fight against an aggressive cancer that spread from his bones to his lungs.

But despite going through chemotherapy, his first priority was to find his son, Logan, a loving home.

And the boy is now starting his new life with a foster family in Torquay, Devon.

One of Nick’s close friends, Aaron Crompton, 24, said: ‘Nothing came before Logan. He was in so much pain by the end of it, but Logan was his life.’

Logan’s mother hadn’t been around since he was young, according to Nick’

But nine months ago, Nick discovered a lump on his collar bone.

It quickly spread to his lungs and the tumour caught an infection, so the chemotherapy had to be stopped.

He passed away on January 3.

Aaron’s sister, Amy, said: ‘Nick tried to stay strong for his son for as long as possible, he very bravely arranged for his little boy to go to a foster family after he passed.’

Amy and Aaron have now set up a GoFundMe page to give Nick the ‘lovely send off’ he deserves.

And any leftover money will go towards new school uniforms for Logan as he prepares to transfer schools.

Amy added: ‘My brother helped with his care, and it was so nice to give Nick and Logan the perfect final Christmas.

‘Many people knew him and have only had good words to say about him. He will be missed by many.’
