The film was originally due to be released this Thursday but has been kept back for six days to target students once they have sat the college entrance exam next week. The movie is a fantasy melodrama about a boy who returns from a mysterious world where time and space stand still, and a girl who is the only person to believe him. The anticipation has resulted in some shuffling. Romantic comedy "Because I Love You" starring Kim Yoo-jepng, who became the nation's sweetheart in the TV series "Love in the Moonlight", and rom-com stalwart Cha Tae-hyeon, originally had the same release date but was postponed till next year. Instead "Split" starring Yoo Ji-tae will be released this Thursday, a week earlier than planned. "Brother", starring Jo Jeong-seok, will be released the same day next week as "Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned", a week earlier than planned, because the fan bases are unlikely to overlap. Kang is one of very few actors who can "open" a movie, i.e. guarantee ticket sales, and his fan base heavily leans towards women. This autumn has been a quiet season in the cinema except for the unexpected hit "Luck.Key", a gentle comedy for a weary nation, and the industry hopes that Kang's return can stir things up. "It would be good if some movies can still attract people to the cinema in the low season before the blockbusters erupt at the end of the year", a staffer at a movie distributor said. cr. During a recent interview, Kang Dong Won was asked, "Has anyone ever approached you in other countries without knowing you're a Korean actor?" He answered yes, and explained, "One time, I traveled to Paris, France, and one woman kept following me and speaking to me in French. I heard there are a lot of bag snatchers, so I was keeping a distance, but the translator told me that the woman is actually a French movie casting director." Kang Dong Won continued, "She told me that she wanted to cast me for a movie, so I told her that I'm an actor, then she just left. I think it was for an indie film." He then revealed a super unpleasant, outright terrifying incident that happened on set. He said, "While filming the car chase scene, there was an accident, so I was pierced in the neck by glass. Fragments of glass flew everywhere, so my whole face was hurt and I bled a lot." He then acted upset as he continued, "The director had on a thunderstruck face, but the costume team was worried blood would get on the clothes and said, 'Please take off your clothes.'" Fortunately, he did not get serious injuries, but he and the whole crew on set had been shocked by the incident. Director Lee Byung Hun added, "Kang Dong Won says it [lightly] but it was an extremely dangerous incident. A long piece of glass was stuck in his neck. Reports claimed that a film with Kang Dong Won, Yoo Ah In, and Sulli in talks may not be happening at all. Previously, it was announced that Kang Dong Won and Yoo Ah In have been confirmed as leads in a new film, 'Burning'. A similar announcement said that Sulli was considering a female lead role. However, the latest report states that the movie production has now been canceled altogether. According to an insider, director Lee Chang Dong, who was scheduled to make his return after 7 years away from directing, decided to cancel the production of 'Burning'. This is not the first time director Lee canceled his productions. Back in 2013, a similar incident occurred for a film in talks with actors Sol Kyung Gu, Won Bin, and Zhang Ziyi as director Lee announced, "I'm not going to do it." At the 'Busan International Film Festival' last month, director Lee also said about his new film, "I'm preparing for a project that's possible in reality. If it works out well then filming is looking to start in November. However, the preparation process is always difficult. There are a lot of issues that can occur. Actor Kang Dong Won had an interview on November 17 where he talked about whether he would be able to wait fifteen years for somebody he loves. He said, "In the past, somebody asked me if I could sacrifice myself for a cause. I said that I could. I don't know what it's like to wait for one woman for fifteen years, and I'm not that sure about the number of years being fifteen. On the November 19th episode of 'Connect! Movie World', Lee Byung Hun, Kang Dong Won, and Kim Woo Bin appeared as guests to discuss their upcoming movie 'Master'. Kang Dong Won revealed, "There was glass in my throat, so I picked it out and then got it stitched."The interviewer commented on how nonchalantly he told the story, and he responded, "I had to pick it out myself because nobody helped me. On the recent airing of 'Entertainment Relay,' co-stars of movie 'Master,' Lee Byung Hun, Kang Dong Won, and Kim Woo Bin, sat down for an interview. Kim Woo Bin was the youngest of the three and said, "I felt a lot of burden on set. I thought to myself that I was second from the bottom out of the genius actors, so thought only I had to do well when filming." The MC asked if he was the type to have aegyo when with veteran actors. He said about Kang Dong Won, "He's an extremely manly man. While shooting an action scene, he got a deep cut, but he said he was okay very coolly, waving it off. Kang Dong Won opened up about his recent film 'Vanishing Time' being a 'flop' at the box office. 'Vanishing Time' released in November and failed to hit the top at the box office as it only attracted about 50,0000 moviegoers. The actor shared his thoughts about the movie's poor results in a recent interview. Kang Dong Won said, "Not too long ago, director Uhm Tae Hwa, several others, and I got together for a drink. Director Uhm Tae Hwa was very disappointed, but I provided encouragement and coolly accepted the results. But I actually wasn't cool about it. The truth came out when I got drunk. A friend of mine was there next to me, and he sympathized and told me that I broke down. I thought I didn't let the results get to me, but I guess I was wrong." On December 14, the actor sat down with media outlet 'Insight' to discuss his upcoming film, 'Master.' The movie gained attention even before being released because it seems to have a lot of similarities with what is happening in Korean politics these days. Kang Don Won stated, "I don't think there's anybody out there who thinks Korea is a very just country. I was hoping that the viewers would relieve their stress through the movie because I felt satisfied that way, too." Regarding the movie having a similar plot as the Choi Soon-Sil scandal, he said, "We didn't know while filming, but I don't think Korean citizens are angry over just this scandal...It's everything they've been enduring up until now." In a recent interview, Kang Dong Won talked about his label which he signed on with early this year. He said, "I was aware but YG really doesn't interfere. I actually really hate interference. My mom doesn't even interfere [with my business]. YG doesn't touch on me to the point where I go, 'Is it ok for them to not interfere this much?'" He also revealed that he has only been to the YG building twice. Kang Dong Won explained, "I've been to the office only twice. I went because they said I should come at least once since I signed the contract. I was curious about the cafeteria, too. (laugh). According to CJ Entertainment of new movie 'Golden Slumber (working title),' a star-studded cast has been confirmed. The movie's side stated on December 22, "Kang Dong Won, Kim Yi Sung, Han Hyo Joo, Kim Sung Kyun, and Kim Dae Myung are confirmed for casting." The drama centers on an ordinary man who is on the run after a giant authority claims he is an assassin. It's based on the famous novel by Japanese writer Kotaro Isaka from 2008. cr. Actor Kang Dong Won, now thirty six years old, talked about marriage in a recent interview. He said, "I'm not sure if I can get married. 80% of my plans are work-related. Only 20% of my plans have to do with my personal life. I'm the type who needs to have my personal life and work life divided clearly. I don't think my personality will get better soon," seeming discouraged. Surely women would wait in line forever for a chance at that 20% though! cr.
