I've actually failed repeatedly when it comes to sticking to a weight loss routine.

In 2015 I lost about 10 kgs but I gained it all back and more.

I have to admit I mindlessly eat. Working out is a bit annoying, but it can be done.

So I've decided to lose weight in 2017. I'm aiming to lose 2.5kg/5lb per month. It needs to be done. Problem is, I don't know where to start.

So, please share any tips or advice you have with weight loss. I would really appreciate it. Thank you :)

Okay. This is how I lost my weight:

I gained some weight a few years back and got really fat and this is what I did to be slim again.

I focus on building muscles. Muscles help to raise fats burning.

I didn't drink any soda, soft drink and even fruit juice. Fruit juice contains natural sugar which cause one to be fat. Instead, I focus on drinking plain ice cold water.

I don't eat snack. Your meal play a huge part in losing weight. I only allow myself one cheat meal a week.

Rest and sleep well.

I also lift weight on Odd days and do HIIT on even days. I give myself Sunday to take a break.

I started in Sep 2016 so far I lost 22kg.

1. Cut your salt intake which means no processed food, salted snacks, sodium beverages, and high salted cook foods(including condiments).

2. Cut sugar, I completely cut out soda, sugary drinks, energy drinks, candy, desserts, and anything that has either one of these words high fructose corn syrup.

3. I cut out all fried foods

4. Then it's all about portion control after that but you have to eat regularly. If you don't then you will just lose mostly muscle not fat.If you want something to snack on eat fruits or nuts. If you exercise it will be even faster. Lol I haven't exercise yet. I wanted to focus on eating right before I workout this year or it would just be a waste of time for me.

I lost 40 kg in 2015 and didn't gain anything back. The best is to take your time when you eat and try to cut out processed food.

Drink water.

Meal prep, when you have healthy food ready to eat, you are less likely to make bad choices.

Sleep well.

Don't make drastic changes at once, introduce new healthy and realistic habits one by one. This way they'll stay with you for a lifetime.

It should not be a temporary diet but a lifetime change or else you'll gain it all back. Trust me I've been there and done that several times.

For exercise, walking half an hour a day is a good start. Don't overexercise because you'll end up giving up and you'll tire your body. Don't think that if you exercise, you can eat whatever you want.

Do not overeat even you're already exercising

*I'm not an expert, but these are some tips I'd recommend to you:

If you're just starting, I suggest to not restrain yourself too harshly.

Start by watching your portion sizes.

Don't eat until you feel full.

Drink water (you may start by drinking one or two glasses of water per meal).

Try to avoid sugary drinks.

Do some aerobic activity like walking 30 minutes everyday.

Try to reduce your carbs ingestion.

If you're living alone, it's actually easier to maintain a routine.

If you are craving for some snacks, try to get less than 100 cals snacks (maybe not the healthiest option, but it might help) or try to eat a fruit.
