I dont think the responses were that bad, they are understandably hesitant. Having supporting roles before getting a lead would be a more sensible path, but that doesnt mean Joy wasnt the right choice. If she has the talent, she can do well, we will just have to see.

A 10 episode drama where music is a prominent aspect (+ audition casting, for all it means to detractors), doesn't seem terrible. Working your way up is ideal, but when opportunities present themselves and you feel you're up to it, you have to grab it. Sometimes big risks have big returns. Lets just wait and see

just copy-pasted the plot of the drama on drama beans:

 

"Manga series The Liar and His Lover (Japanese title: Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru) will be remade into a Korean drama (the literal Korean title is She Loves Lies). There’s already a popular live-action Japanese film version of the award-winning manga by Aoki Kotomi, and now there is a Korean adaptation in the works at cable network tvN.

 

The plot is about a genius sound creator (hmmm like Eric from Oh Hae-young Again?) and his fan who is a high school student. It’s a bittersweet uplifting romance story of how they meet and fall in love. In the 2013 Japanese film, Takeru Satoh played the main lead, a depressed musical genius who produces records under a fake identity. Sakurako Ohara played his sixteen-year-old love interest, who is a singer in a band who is eventually scouted by Takeru’s character."

 

 

Joy's character is a bright girl who can sing. some says this is somewhat similar to her personality so i hope she would do well. she can sing so that's already good news. hopefully she does well. Joy is a perfectionist and a hard worker. hope everyone gives her a chance (i was also informed that its also the first acting role by actress in the Japanese movie?)
