The youth population in Japan is declining. The economic situation for the youth is also not the best. With their dwindling size and income, they are less of a force than in the past. But what segment is growing? The older population, and they're the ones with money. It's why Oricon noted last year that 2016 was a great year for older artists, like ones over 50.
