I thought 2PM wanted to enlist together?

Did JYP stop them or the members changed their minds?

Anyway, a Shawol said that Onew will be enlisting too (though not confirmed)

I kinda want SHINee to go together but Taemin is still young enough and his solo career has been really successful

/sigh

Not sure if their fandom knows more but from what i saw it was released last year that Taecyeon and Jun K will be the one going to army in 2017,  and i saw this on twitter, apparently Taecyeon said this

i wonder why can't they enlist at the same time

because idols depend a lot on fans support comparing to rappers for example.

Rapper can go to army , be gone for 2 years and comeback and if he releases a song public likes he will do well. Example MC Mong that did some shit in army or something and knetz hate on him for it but he releases a song they like and they all buy it in the end,

If a group goes as a group thats 2 years away with no schedule and nothing. There is a high chance they will lose a lot of fans whie in army.

Ugh, Shinee should go together. Their solo careers won't go anywhere. TT

You figure there are less chances of them losing fans in 4 years compared to 2?

Realistically their Japanese fans won't go anywhere because that's how they are and most of their SK fanbase already left while they were in Japan. I don't see them having a lot of solo activities in SK with JYPE current management and Japan will wait without any problems.

Onew shouldn't enlist till 2018 at least maybe even early 2019. they would never go together and shouldn't. taemin's way too young to put his career on hold for two years while he's on a rise imo. as well as key and minho who r rising with their acting. onew's gonna solo debut before he enlists for sure.

There's 1,5 years between Ace and Press it. :imstupid:

there are less chance of losing fans in 4 years than 2 in a way. since if they all dont go together they can promote solo, still be in public, have units promo etc.

overall i think it depends what you want to do. Usually idols go to army when their reach certain  age (mostly late 20s), question is how many of them want to continue being part of group in 30s.

for those that want to go solo in the future whether as singer, actor etc its better not to go together in army since you can concentrate on solo things while some are in the army.

although in some cases like TVXQ its way better to go together.

I really don't see how having 2 years between release dates is "putting career on hold" while 1,5 is "being on the rise". I don't remember him having a long promotional period for Ace.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree.

? he promoted ace well through 2015 tho, in various music programs inculding award shows and year ends plus was visible with shinee promos. and its not about strictly releasing music. its mostly variety and different things to constantly stay relevant. which none of them could do when they r in the army for two years straight. there's not anything to disagree on really.  :)

2 years of putting solo career on hold + 2-3-4-5 years of putting Shinee activities on hold

vs

2 years of putting both solo career and Shinee activities on hold

Considering that they manage to have solo activities while being active in Shinee at the same time and that SM won't give them significantly more promo just because Shinee is on hiatus... Math is against you.
