I've seen a lot of them on instagram and they def look more EA/SEA while some look mixed with Mid Eastern. There's also a decent sized Russian population and they have also mixed with ethnic Kazakhs

And having a singer from one of those countries be on a Chinese singing show will do what exactly? solidify the relationship of the two countries? This show has never had only singers from China, Shila Amzah from Malaysia did great in previous seasons. Chinese dramas have also had a string of foreign leads like Mike D'Angelo. I don't see anything political about it, they appeal to a certain segment of the population.
