Kana Nishino graduated to J-pop Queen by winning the Japan Record Award last year.

She beat Utada Hikaru.

Not that she isnt a queen but to me shes still the Jpop Princess. I prefer it that way bc they are many J-queens like the ones i listed but one princess hehe

Like I said, not that she isn't a queen. She has queen status sales and popularity  :datass: She's clearly a QUEEN  :ahmagah:

I just like to call her the Jpop princess bc she seems so innocent and cute. She gives me princess vibes. :chu:

People need to get over the denial of Kana. She's clearly the biggest female to debut in the past decade. Just because you don't like her or can't move past 2006...

I have only 3 in mind. First name of Queens are Namie, Utada and Ayumi.

She's what Shiina Ringo could've been if Shiina's voice had more mass appeal and wasn't annoying.

Popularity wise at least.

This makes no sense at all.

Utada.

I used to argue that Ayumi had that title but after reading this Wikipedia page

https://en.wikipedia...n_popular_music

I think "Empress Of J-Pop" is a more impressive title then Queen :)

P.s II
Correct me if i'm wrong, but why do people keep saying Namie is queen? Utada & Ayumi both have more sales then her from what I've read. Plus.. their debut was years after her and still beat her sales. Snap.

My own "personal" J-Pop Queen alternates between Miliyah & Shiina though :D

While sales obviously matter, cultural impact and longevity also play a part I think. Some things certain singers listed in this thread don't have..

Amen, and thanks for being so logical even though you're a Namie fan. But yeah cultural impact and longevity do play a part.

But at the end of the day I still feel getting a title like Queen is a fact due to sale figures. Namie definitely has hardcore longevity so I can understand to a degree why people view her as the queen these days.

I think everyone should take the time to watch this masterpiece Namie cover

:D
