Yea I'm caught up with the episodes but I thought the appeal was gonna go well. It doesn't help that he can't remember anything but I commend his madness. He has to be really sharp to be able to leave all these clues that no one can get not even himself

As much as i dont wanna believe that KMS (GS) the one who killed Jisoo, he probably did as he just admitted to JW  :imstupid:

6 episodes are up but I just finished ep 5 (gonna catch up tomorrow)! And also, did I just see a spoiler(?) on here?

Anyways, this drama is so tense! I really wonder what Ha Yeon's weight gotta do with Jeong Woo's memory  :la:

I can't wait to watch how Eun-Hye's gonna help Jeong Woo. I also want to know about the older inmate's story and how he ended up in prison.

Ot but the two twins that play the younger Cha Min Ho and Sun Ho were also in "Daebak" as the king's eunuchs! I was wondering why they looked so familiar  :lub:

Ji Sung And Kim Min Suk’s Chilling Exchange Earns “Defendant†Its Highest Real-Time Ratings

Ji-Sung-Kim-Min-Suk.jpg&key=0abb670f88c8

Ji Sung and Kim Min Suk put their all into creating a stunning and intense ending for the latest episode of SBS’s “Defendant.â€

Episode 6 aired on January 7 and scored nationwide viewership ratings of 18.6 percent. The drama’s real-time ratings peaked at 23.28 percent, a new record for the production, in the final moments of the episode during the spine-chilling exchange between Park Jung Woo (played by Ji Sung) and Sung Kyu (played by Kim Min Suk).

Spoiler:

Park Jung Woo is in prison on charges for murdering his daughter and wife, and he attempts to uncover the truth about Cha Min Ho (played by Uhm Ki Joon) with the help of Seo Eun Hye (played by Kwon Yuri) while also trying to recover his memory. He began the fight with the firm belief that he couldn’t possibly have killed his family, but he is left feeling unmoored because of the steady stream of evidence being stacked against him.

At first, Park Jung Woo has a hard time adapting to prison life, even getting into conflicts with the other prisoners. However, he looks out for Sung Kyu like a little brother, even taking time to help him out though he is in a desperate situation himself.

However, a shocking revelation comes out in the last moments of episode 6. During this episode, Park Jung Woo’s friend Kang Joon Hyuk (played by Oh Chang Suk) presents a video of the prosecutor confessing to his family’s murder. Though he can’t remember anything, Park Jung Woo is convinced that he actually did it, and prepares to commit suicide.

The moment he goes to hang himself from a noose created with vinyl, Sung Kyu speaks up from the corner of the room he’d quietly been sitting in. He says, “Why should you die? You didn’t do it, I did it.†He then goes on to sing, “A cat in a mountain valley, a baby kitten,†a song that Park Jung Woo’s daughter Ha Yon (played by Shin Rin Ah) had sung often.

It was a shocking moment for both Park Jung Woo and the viewers. On that scene, Kim Min Suk said, “I am very grateful to the viewers for praising me and supporting me though I still have a long way to go. I was so excited from the moment I received the script, and Sung Kyu makes my heart race. I’ve been studying and practicing my other scenes as well, but I especially discussed this scene in depth with Ji Sung. I am so grateful for his help.â€

The actor continued to add, “Sung Kyu has many faces to him. I thought a lot about how to portray this moment when he is usually a warm-hearted person. I thought about what expression I should make, how I should sing Ha Yon’s song, and what my eyes should be saying. I hope that my acting continues to be received well in episode 7 as well.â€

I'm sorry but the trial was dumb as hell. He shows a video of him confessing, yet they don't point out the obvious lie: he didn't bury Ha Yeon, as proven when they never found her or her DNA.

Stupid in my opinion. Not to mention a confession tape can be forced. Neither Yuri or Ji Sung (sorry I forgot their characters' names) should've been that star struck.

I guess you could weigh in the fact that Yuri's character is kind of a shit attorney and that Ji Sung is being blamed by his former best friend and was already doubting himself, but still...

So is that Sung Kyu like some guy hired by Cha Min Ho? 'Cause I'd like to think he is

Yeah i even had a doubt that KS or SG might be the people who get paid from Minho to kill JW's family. :imstupid:

he probably did that, to settle down the case towards Cha Sunho. cause i didnt see wheres its ending, since its leads to the scene of JW in prison.

And Minho really has no idea about Hayeon. If it was a job ordered by him, and he wants to keep JW rotting in jail forever after failing to kill him using HY as the collateral, he has to keep her alive, or at least until the execution (of death sentence) or if he had to gain something from it. So far he only scared of JW's memory, the memory about him pretending to be CSH. And another reason his loyal assasin, Kim Seok, its not his style to kill someone directly. His track-record is did killing then disguised it like car accident.

Defendant05-00446a.jpg

Prison life is hard, especially for a former prosecutor experiencing memory loss one week before his appeal. Even so, Jung-woo works hard to remember what he can in spite of his challenges. Eun-hye runs into problems as well, but she’s proving to be tireless in pursuit of the truth, while Min-ho must face just how different he is from Sun-ho as he tries to live convincingly as his brother. It turns out that he isn’t the only one struggling to step into someone else’s life.

EPISODE 5 RECAP

It’s the morning of the Wolha-dong murder, 12:30 a.m. on September 23rd, as Joon-hyuk parks his car. Ji-soo opens her door, surprised to see him, because he was out of town.

Ji-soo invites the gift-bearing Joon-hyuk inside. He takes in the family photos throughout the living room while Ji-soo is busy in the kitchen. She returns with two mugs, offering to wake Jung-woo, but Joon-hyuk stops her, explaining that he has to leave soon.

Jooh-hyuk thinks it unusual that Jung-woo is already asleep, prompting Ji-soo to mention his early meeting. Taking Ha-yeon’s birthday gift from its bag, a stuffed “Nemo†(from Finding Nemo) with a recorder inside, Ji-soo encourages a clueless Joon-hyuk to record a greeting. He plays along, speaking into the toy, “Ha-yeon, it’s me, Uncle Joon-hyuk. It’s already one in the morning. I’m so sorry that it’s one hour after your birthday.â€

Joon-hyuk reminds Ji-soo that he won’t be around for Ha-yeon’s next birthday. Realizing that they will be away for two years because of Jung-woo’s appointment to a U.N. legal division, Ji-soo encourages Joon-hyuk to visit them in New York. Before leaving, Joon-hyuk checks in on the sleeping birthday girl, placing Nemo on Ha-yeon’s night stand.

DRAMA RECAPS

Defendant: Episode 6

sVdDVFu.jpg&key=eedfce5f8fd0be933ed028d5

Things have never looked so bleak for Jung-woo, as it seems the whole world is convinced of his guilt and is hell-bent on putting him away, even if they have to use less than ethical means to do it. Jung-woo still has some allies, but the few clues that offer hope are disjointed and weak in the face of a prosecution team that’s hiding a winning card up its sleeve.

Three days after the Wolha-dong murder. Jung-woo rides in a van with Joon-hyuk, who tells him their superiors don’t know about this, and he can’t protect him from any consequences. Jung-woo nods.

Joon-hyuk arrives to find Mother Oh at Ji-soo’s funeral, and Jung-woo follows him in, wearing a baseball cap. When she sees him, she says, â€œYou didn’t do it, right?†But he only apologizes, and she begins to cry, leaning on Joon-hyuk for support. Jung-woo stands before the memorial, tears in his eyes, and tells Ji-soo, â€œIt was painful, wasn’t it? I’m sorry. This is all my fault. I’m going to find our Ha-yeon.â€

He goes back to his distraught mother-in-law and takes her hand, pressing it meaningfully. He apologizes again, and she stops crying as the two men turn to leave. On their way out, they run into Tae-soo, who loses it as he threatens to kill him and tells him to get lost. Mother Oh opens her hand and unfolds the note left there by Jung-woo, and we hear in his voice, â€œMother, please make sure you don’t clean the house.â€
