Why do international fans think staying in Korea is better?

As a matter of fact most K-Pop and K-Entertainment profit is gained from export and overseas activities.

Your faves won't be able to sell as much without the international fans, especially if they just focus on the Korean market.

I really don't get why some international fans look down on idols who are only popular to international fans and not in Korea. Those groups actually be paying their training debts!!!

I think the sentiment is stay in korea in the formative years and branch out after a few successful years.

i think what they mean by 'staying in korea' is 'promoting in korea'.

if they go on tour in japan and the us/wherever, at the most you're going to get fan accounts, a couple of blog updates and some fancams. then, after the tour is complete, you get a dvd (which won't even be shot as nicely as some of the better fancams).

if they promote in korea, there is a higher chance of the group or members appearing on variety shows, like running man, weekly idol and stuff like that. everyone likes to see their idols do cute stuff and get hi-res gifs, and variety shows give you that.

a solid fandom in korea is a must before you can start on tour. they are originally kpop group afterall..who release korean song and korean chart is important for you to gain any awards and awards bring you fame and exposure internationally.

being famous internationally cant bring you a fame in korea but once you are famous in korea, it is a plus point for a fame internationally

Groups will eventually become irrelevant if their Korean fandom doesn't grow anymore and actually gets smaller. It's about longevity and the name they make for themselves: will they be remembered in 10 years from now? They're Kpop groups, their main market will always be the Korean music industry lol.

There are groups like Supernova who aren't as popular in SK anymore but are bringing in big bucks in Japan though. Come to think of it, they actually outlasted so many K-Pop groups who were once 'relevant' but have now broken up.
