Mirotic was not DBSK's breakthrough song

Disagree hug and rising sun didn't sell like mirotic

Numbers don't equate to impact tbh especially when you put into context the timeframes. For one, Mirotic was at the point where K-Pop was spreading overseas widely hence the addition of newer fans. This was also the point where they had accumulated more fans than ever. Mirotic was the result of their impact, hence the high sales.

But I equate impact not just with numbers but also with effect. Mirotic was merely a forward step to DB5K's career but it wasn't a gamechanger in their trajectory. Sure it sold heaps but when they released it, DB5K was at a point wherein they were expected to sell that much. Impact-wise - they were EXPECTED to perform that well.

With Hug, it was a time when solos were the main thing for K-Pop and idol groups have lost their luster. So when DB5K entered the scene with Hug, it reminded the industry that there's still a market for boybands. Rising Sun was the song that cemented them as top entertainers in Korea. Doushite was the song that brought them to the top in Japan. These songs may not have been the best sellers but they had a great effect in DB5K's career trajectories.

I was never their fan but it was known that Mirotic was not their breakthrough hit. But it's not wrong if people want to praise how big Mirotic was. It was the best selling album when it came out

as I said, most current fans like to equate things with numbers, not impact.

It's like research, quantitative + qualitative research go hand in hand. There's a reason why anecdotal evidence does help.

Like I said, Mirotic was expected to be huge since that was the point they have accumulated fans already. While it's a feather in their cap, it was more of a forward move instead of a gamechanger for them.

Thank you that makes sense
