do you think a lot of korean youths are scammed by "companies"?

i think shitty debuts usually reflect serious budget constraints more than anything. companies still debut these groups trying to hit it big.

but scamming is definitely a thing. i have a friend in the industry who has had her fair share of exposure to super shady contracts and unregistered companies.

not an easy industry to navigate esp for the young and impressionable.

I'm sure plenty of them do, but how many youths are really trying to debut?  I don't know if it's "a lot".

I do think that a lot of Korean people get scammed.  it seems to be a real issue going off of the shows I've seen, especially among celebrities, but also in the general population.

I've heard that larger companies like SM and JYP will trade trainees that they don't think fit the companies anymore.

If as a trainee, your contract is not up yet, then can they still trade you? Do you have to sign up for a new contract then as the old one become invalid?

look at produce 101. 100 girls right there. there are literally about 40+ debuts of 5 member+ groups almost every year and companies like jyp and sm have 40+ trainees each and are constantly dropping some and signing more. most middle tier companies have around 10 trainees each. and these are only people who are already in companies. if we were to sit down and do the math i'm sure it would count as a lot.

I mean there are articles online about Korean students who tried to follow their dreams and are now in debt without any hope of debuting (signed to a 누구 company)

I guess I was thinking more of 'given the size of the population, is it really a high percentage?'

Definitely.... it's common in any ent. industry. Maybe something like asking for fees to accept them as trainee then take their money and disappear like many cases in hollywood. That scenerio seem to be the better one tbh....honestly in worst case, it could be some no name agency that trick them into bad contracts or even use them as entertainment for sponsors while promising debuts.......ent. industry anywhere is so shady and scary...
