Chocolat may be the second coming of SNSD?

Second addition to the Theory Thursdays

Girls' Generation debuted in August 2007. For awhile, they struggled to meet SM's expectations. They were doing okay, but they weren't quite as successful as SM would have liked and receive lots of hate from ELF, Cassies, and other kpop fans. Everyone knows about the famous black ocean. Many fans were afraid they'd get shafted by SM, similar to f(x) and CSJH. Then in 2009, they released Gee and exploded with popularity. Today, as you all know, they are known as the Nation's Girl Group.

In 2011, Chocolat debuted, also in August. When they debuted, they received lots of hate for allegedly trying to gain attention from the fact that the group is biracial. Juliane's lipsyncing didn't help (teehee). So far, they have failed to be successful in the kpop industry. But here were are, about a two and a half years after their debut. With a new member, great performance skills, and some experience in the industry, will Chocolat finally release that smash hit this year and rocket to the top ranks?

Let's look at some signs:

  • Already stated, the hate they received at debut
  • SNSD made a song called Chocolate Love for an endorsement and wore dresses very similar to the ones Chocolat wore for their Black Tinkerbell promotions
  • Both groups debuted in August, with exceptional synchronization and solid vocals
  • Chocolat's company name is Paramount, which means supreme
  • Tia has a gorgeous face that Korea loves, just like Yoona
  • Tia and Tiffany have the same last name, both look up to BoA, and are the rappers of their respective groups
  • Both groups had a blonde member at debut
  • Tia became a hot search topic on
, hinting at her growing popularity
  • Both Tiffany and Melanie have sung Alicia Keys' song If I Ain't Got You, shortly after debut, and both had short hair at the time
  • Loved by the army
  • Soa and Jessica are the same age, and have the same big soft round eyes
  • A butterfly is depicted on the cover of Chocolat's 2013 Black Tinkerbell; SNSD released a song in 2013 called Karma Butterfly on their third Japanese album
  • Mel and Tia have a relationship similar to Taeyeon and Jessica
  • Tia got to flirt with Kikwang, just like Hyoyeon did, in the same year; both are the best dancers

Those are just some of the signs and similarities that hint that Chocolat is the second coming of SNSD. Chocolat, however, has the misfortune of a poor, unknown company (something that has delayed their inevitable Hallyu star status) and few members, which is completely opposite of SNSD, hinting that Chocolat will become a different type of Nation's Girl Group, and will possibly conquer different markets than SNSD has (America) since they have the advantage of 4 cute, English-speaking, half-white Korean girls. Wait patiently for Lori's debut and support the release of Chocolat's smash hit!
