kxjay 3,543 Posted December 29, 2016 Share Posted December 29, 2016 2016 has been pretty good for films, but I must say I'm anticipating 2017 a lot more than I probably did for 2016 With the year almost coming to a close, many movies have come and go and I'm sure we've watched a lot of them.. So in this thread, we talk about our favorite films of 2016 and reminisce back on the experience we had viewing them Several of my favorites (In no order) The Handmaiden (Ah-ga-ssi) I recently just became a fan of Park Chan Wook (legendary Korean visionary) and I gotta say, this man is a genius! If you're a fan of amazing foreign films, great cinematography, outstanding camera work, and superb acting, watch his movies. With old classics such as Oldboy, Thirst, I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK, etc. under his belt, you can't go wrong. The Nice Guys One of the rare crime/comedy movie I have come across in a while. It's hard for modern movies nowadays to be as genuine funny and great as The Nice Guy. Great characters with an even better cast ensemble. It's just too bad that this movie bombed at the box office. The Neon Demon From Nicolas Winding Refn, another director I'm becoming a big fan of. I absolutely loved his previous films, Drive and Only God Forgives. The use of colors and feeling of isolation in his films is brilliant, and The Neon Demon encompasses both of that to a tea. This movie is not really for one who is looking for deep story, but one who like films that takes chances and are ballsy and visually appealing. Your Name å›ã®å㯠(Kimi no Na Wa) Probably my favorite movie of the year. If you're a fan of western animation like Despicable Me, this movie is probably not for you. One of the most beautifully animated movie I've seen since probably, any of Studio Ghibli films. Just such a feel good fantastical movie and only movie to make me very emotional after watching. ----- What about you guys? Let's share and discuss some of our favorite films of the year. waffles8000 541 Posted December 29, 2016 Share Posted December 29, 2016 i really liked bad moms, it was a last minute decision when i went to see it but it was unexpectedly good i have a bad habit of falling asleep at the movie theatres, and i literally fell asleep through all of the movies i saw this year minus bad moms cause it actually kept me awake but other than that, moana was hella good even tho i fell asleep and woke up to a singing crab but hey most of the plot was very well crafted and the music was good too doctor strange didn't disappoint, everything was so trippy and the effects were done so nicely,plus the storyline wasn't that messy and finding dory, i watched it twice and cried twice (also fell asleep twice lol) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
