Is your parents' country's culture important to you?

Just curious about how important the culture of the country your parents' are from is to people.

If you were born in another country but raised somewhere else, how important is your native/ethnic culture to you?

Or if you were born and raised a bit there but also raised somewhere else, do you identify more with the first or second? or you just take the best of both worlds?

Though I identify a lot with culture of the country I was raised and live in, the one I was born in's culture is very important to me, love lots of aspects of it. I was raised a bit there too. My parents also made sure we(siblings and I) speak our native language and also we are quite surrounded by it.

No. My mom has never sat me down and given me the rundown on her country's culture. It's always me asking questions and getting half-assed responses. I'm much more American than anything else. I'm just glad I can speak the language and I can recognize some dishes.

Same here. I wanna move back there permanently someday

My parents don't even know their country's culture~

Although i was born and raised in Greece, i feel like i admire a lot from my mother's culture but i adore both Greek and Russian, they are very different but they are both nice. I don't want to bring any of these 2 down(because ok, the russians are huuuuuge culturaly while Greeks are kind of lower on the spectrum), they are both cool but i'm not planning on digging deep into any of both cultures. But yes, they are important to some level, you could say that.

edit: but Greece has a huge history not to forget that, i love greek mythology as well :) but in terms of archievements.. i think without the Russians, Greeks would probably had flopped centuries ago

They were born and raised in the U.S. but the heritage is some kinda African~ Like we don't even know what it is so~  :imstupid:

LOL "some kind of African" first time hearing it like that xD

For me it is somewhat. It is because of my parents and knowing where I was born and lived for 10% of my life. However I live in this country now and it's more "my" culture if I had to choose. But then again I don't really feel at home here either. I wonder if more people struggle with this issue of not feeling like they belong in either countries?

Not really. The only significant Chinese aspect of my life is Chinese food lol. I can't even properly speak Chinese anyways. And I don't know anything about the culture. I'm pretty sure when I move out in the future there's not going to be much Chinese culture in my life. Heck I'll probably eat less Chinese food because there's so much different food that I want to eat and learn to make that my parents won't let me do at home.
